I unpacked this bag and was pleasantly surprised. The reviews scared me a little with the comments about the smell..leather smells like leather. The size was as advertised and very well made. I put leather saddle soap on it and oiled it down. It is a beautiful bag. It will be a Christmas gift cant wait .

This review is based off first impressions. I may update after I've used the bag a while.Right off the bat, I want to say I did not find a funky smell that others talked about.There is a slight leather smell, but it's not overpowering or strong.The buckles and connectors were covered with wrap for protection, so they look great.Leather is goat, full-grain from what I can tell. It doesn't appear to be sanded like top-grain leather.The compartment is large. I put a queen size berber blanket in one and there is still more room, so for packing clothes this bag will be spacious. The side compartments are the full size of the bag ends...12x12 I think?I bought two bags and am glad I did. Now the husband can't steal mine!Only down side:One bag has one end that is a different color than the rest of the bag. So if you're super OCD, buy two bags, and return the one you like least. I think the color is fine, even if slightly different as it means I can pick my bag out of a line-up. :)

I love this piece. It’s exactly as described on Amazon. It has a rich deep brown tone and the leather is very soft and pliable. It comes from the carton with a non leather odor, but the information slip in the box explains that this is due to the packaging and will fade away after a few weeks. As the packaging notes, the leather was tanned using a traditional tanning process and did not use harsh chemicals. So don’t be surprise that you don’t get a traditional “shoe store” smell.For the price, this is a very good value.

The bag is nice. Real leather. Has enough space and pockets for your stuff. My only problem is the smell. Already soaked it in baking soda and left out in the open air to try to make the smell disappear, but after months, the smeall is still there.

This bag is well-made and a beautiful deep brown color. Its shape makes it capable of holding quite a bit, making it perfect for weekend or even multiple-day trips. The storage sections on each end are helpful for packing smaller items. While there is a leather smell when the bag is new, I found it to be quite slight compared to another leather bag I have. The smell in this bag was gone in 24 hours and placing a small fan in the bag accelerated the dissipation of the smell.

I was really sceptical about this bag because of the price and upon receipt of the flat envelope/bag it came in.I opened up the item to air out and inspect it. First - all the brass fittings had a protective film on them. Impressive against the dark stained leather. Second - the smell is "Calf Leather", very sweet but leathers all have different smells. I Saddle Soaped the entire bag and towel dried with very little of the dye coming out. Then applied Seal Oil to the outside of the bag ONLY.Used this bag for a four day Corvette Club run and was getting compliments on it from all the members as well as Hotel and Resort Staff !! I now have a New Vette Bag !! It's in the embroidery shop getting C5 Flags and my name sewn on.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BAG !!!

My bag arrived in package tap, inside a weird cardboard box. It seemed as though a previous return was sent my way. Should we strap missing. Immediate return for me. Quick general impressions; bag stunk and is not leather. A scam. Shop elsewhere for quality leather products. Maybe even on Amazon. Not recommended!

This bag is simply awesome! Rugged design and very well made. There is a smell out of the package but it goes away l within a week and smells like normal leather. I would recommend using a leather cleaner or conditioner out of the box to help with the smell but once I did that I have no complaints and it looks like something indianna Jones would own lol love this bag! Plenty of room, my wife and I shared this as an overnight bag and we had room to spare.
