Some people make their own, and that is fine, but these work great for those that would rather streamline the process.Remember to change them regularly to prevent excessive nutrient buildup in the pad.These are called polishing pads because they catch the fine particles that cloud water. It will take some time to filter all the water, depending on tank size, but this will definitely clear an appropriately sized tank of cloudiness.

I thought I could cut these up and use them in my filter to clean the water. It did not work out well. Although these are thick once they get wet they turn soggy like wet cotton. I guess I used them wrong. It doesnt mean it's a bad product. It just didnt work well for me. However, im going to continue to try to make these work in my 5 gallon tank.

They seem to be the best ones out there. I have tried different ones before and these seem to work the best. I cannot speak on the price as I did not shop around, but, in my opinion, regardless, quality trumps cost.

Not much to say about this. Have ordered multiple times and gotten a legitimate product every single time. Product performs as advertised and is the cheapest I have personally found which is why I buy from here. Unless you can find a better price or are insistent about supporting a local pet store, I’d buy here.

These work great but they gunk up quickly. Understandable with a floss that is so fine. It catches EVERYTHING and it shows. They work amazingly but you will be replacing them often. Good thing they are pretty inexpensive.

This product is built to disintegrate very fast you’re supposed to change normally every three months but after two months you open your filter and this product looks like dough extremely delicate very hard to get it out of your filter

I use these pads in some of my older power filters, which are now dedicated for use as mechanical micron filters.I have six planted aquaria, so weekly micron filtering is an important part of keeping the water columns in these tanks - as well as their fauna and flora - healthy.I use Aquaclear filters to micron these tanks. The lowest pad is the sponge which came with the filter. I then add one of these pads, and then for fine filtering a Buon Vino 0.5 micron filter pad. This gives me the ability to remove particulate down to a half a micron in size. This is even better than a diatomaceous earth filter.

I change this out every 2 weeks, because the filter looks brown and gross from all the gunk it's collecting. I didn't used to put these in the canister because i didn't think they'd do much, but my water looks significantly clearer after I started changing them out regularly. Plus they're super cheap.
