I needed something to scare off the rooks, so a cheap catapult fitted the bill. This one is powerful enough to reach the top of the trees, which is all I required and it works just fine. As has been noted elsewhere, many of these cheap items are quite small and this one is no exception. Does the job, though, plus being supplied with four elastics and a small bag of ammo to get started with, it’s good value.

Given that this has come from China, and most stuff coming out of China is not very good, I am quite impressed. It is sturdy, seems well made and catapults well.

I use this catapult to scare the pigeons, magpies and squirrels away from my bird table. I use clay shot rather than metal and on the rare occasions that I've managed to hit something the creature has been shocked but unharmed. Having used the catapult several times a day for a few weeks, the unwanted birds and beasts seem to have learnt to stay away from my garden!
