good heat/cold retention, not crazy about cup/cap
In terms of design, this is a nice, slim thermos that can easily fit into a work bag or briefcase. I have not had any problems with heat or cold retention. To pour out liquid, you give the plunger a half turn or so. I don't care for the cap/cup combo. Below are a few tips/specs.Coffee drinkers - the coffee taste will linger, so you may want to fill it with hot water and let it sit in between use.Tea drinkers - when you steep tea, make sure you close the cap tightly. otherwise, too much heat will escape and your tea won't retain temperature. If the tea bag is left in too long, it will eventually break. If you use tea in silken bags, you may not have this problem.Heat - priming it with hot water prior to adding your liquid is preferable. This does not take much effort. Heat some water in a kettle, cap it, and shake it around, dump it, then add your beverage. If you drive to a coffee shop to fill up, you will want to recap the thermos after dumping the hot water (or you can keep the water inside until you arrive at the coffee shop and find a nice plant to dump the water onto).Cold - putting water/liquid in the thermos and putting it in the fridge will not make it cold. Remember, this products is insulated. The water/liquid needs to be cold beforehand.About the cap - the cap is plastic on the inside and not insulated. hot beverages will be hot to the touch. Also, the cap tends to smell "used" as plastics do, and I wonder about cleanliness, so I use my own cup/mug. I would have appreciated a cap with the same technology as the rest of the product.

Excellent Thermos!
Can't say enough about this thermos! My boyfriend and I are avid outdoor people so are outside during very cold weather for many hours at a time whether to hunt, hike, ice fish, etc. This is the perfect "personal" thermos - highly insulated so keeps things VERY hot - the cover can be used as your cup - you only have to partially open the stopper and pour so all the heat doesn't escape - this thing keeps beverages warm for HOURS - it's also very rugged so if you drop it it won't break - it might dent but that doesn't affect the functionality. I usually fill it with very hot water and put the stopper back in before I make my tea or cocoa or whatever I'm bringing with me that day - make sure you really twist the stopper tight so it doesn't leak - i always put the stopper in and turn the thermos upside down just to make sure nothing is leaking out - i've given these as gifts to several friends and they all rave about them. Some use it for keeping things hot others for holding cold beverages - either way it has gotten positive reviews - and I've received many thanks for the gifts! Highly recommend.....

Two Thumbs Up - Five Stars! This thermos is a must have if you drink coffee hot!
My wife and I go on long bike (Motorcycle) rides and I am a coffee lover who enjoys stopping and having coffee – my way! And often our rides are places where there are no Dunkin’ Donuts or Starbucks. So I bought a Stanley thermos. Three hours later coffee was luke warm. So I googled and did everything suggested: heated water first and “primed it.” Next time used boiling water to prime it….three hours later coffee was quasi hot at best. I can’t tell you how annoyed I was. I went online again and came across rave reviews for the Nissan Thermos. Not just on the Amazon site, but everywhere. I ordered two: a 32 and a 16 oz. First thing I did was boil water and fill the 32 oz. at 3:45 PM. I was going to check it at 7:45 PM that evening (four hours later), but completely forgot. Next morning I wake up and at 6:45 AM (15 hours later), I grabbed the thermos, went over to the sink to pour it out with the thought of doing a new test. I held my hand under it just for “gp” and wow! The water came out very, very hot! I could not believe it. I am really excited over this thermos. And dang glad I got it.

Great!
For a few years now I've been using the 22 ounce E5 Thermos to keep coffee in while I'm at work. I used to not drink that much coffee, but over time I grew used to filling up the thermos to capacity and drinking the whole thing. Eventually I realized that I should probably cut back coffee consumption, so I went hunting for a smaller thermos. This one is 6oz. smaller, and works just as well as the larger one. I saw other thermos bottles that had caps where the coffee flowed through channels inside the plug, but after reading many reviews where these channels filled up with rotten coffee residue, I decided to stay away from them. This one has a plug just like my old thermos which when half unscrewed, allows you to pour coffee into the included cup/lid. I never use the lid, but it's nice that it's there. It's also nice that there are no internal channels in the plug to get fouled up. All the parts you need to clean are right there and easy to get to. It's also nice that this one is skinnier than my old thermos, and fits nicely into my car's cupholders. My only wish was that there was a 12oz version available. Cutting down from 22oz of coffee a day to 16 is nice, but not quite as low as I wanted to go. Currently I'm just making 12oz and leaving some empty space, so life really isn't that bad. First world problems, right?
