Brilliant Fun; Not Remotely Scary
It's been a long time since I played a game I could say I had fun playing without having to add a bunch of caveats.Simply put Resident Evil Village is just a blast to play. The combat is satisfying, the titular village is fun to explore, the characters are (mostly) interesting and, possibly for the first time ever in an RE game, I actually found myself genuinely invested in the story and Ethan Winters as a character.The one downside to some might be that the game isn't remotely scary --even the infamous 'doll house' section everyone made a big deal out of-- because it's nothing you haven't seen before if you're a fan of horror games. Heck, even if you're just a fan of Resident Evil, every scare RE8 has to offer you'll have already seen in RE7, so you'll know exactly what to expect going in and how to react to it.The one other gripe I guess I'd have is despite being designed to be replayed multiple times the game doesn't give you the option to skip the prologue section which really just wastes 10 minutes, but given they let you skip just about every other cutscene in the game I think we can call that one a wash.

Brilliant game, another fantastic addition to the series.
As a huge Resident Evil fan I was skeptical of getting this latest instalment in the series, due to them moving away from a solely zombie featuring game and moving into a paranormal and werewolf featuring game. But honestly I am regretting not playing this when it first was released.The game is really well paced with no slow moments, the bosses are all unique and their areas play differently to each other, which keeps you on your toes. Not to mention it’s a graphically beautiful game, and that’s as someone playing it on a PS5 but with a naff TV, so on a 4K tv this is probably even more gorgeous.However if you’re like me and a fan of collecting each games platinum trophy, it’s worth noting this one is tricky to platinum due to the ones for The Mercenaries side game, which takes a lot of time and effort.If you’re a fan of survival horror games, highly recommend giving this a go, you won’t regret it.
