The photography is nothing short of "Stunning." I bought this as a Christmas gift for my rock-hound wife, and was about 90% sure she would like it, it was not what she was expecting. This is now the only book displayed on our coffee table. It is in the exact center of the coffee table. I think she likes it! Earth On Fire: How Volcanoes Shape Our Planet

Absolutely stunning photographs! This book is worth every cent. Beautifully designed as well, one doesn't expect less from Phaidon! The small paragraphs annotating the photographs provide an interesting insight into geography too!

It is both an informative text and outstanding photography, a visual treat.

Earth on Fire is a remarkable celebration of a dynamic geologic process. The images offer an intimate view of the earth at its most awesome: explosive, destructive, creative. The text clearly expands on the information available within each picture. As an aerial photographer, I can appreciate the tenacity with which Edmaier pursued his subject. As a geologist, I applaud his ability to bring the world of vulcanism into crisp focus. I recommend this book to anyone interested in the earth sciences or photography.

Just got this book and it is absolutely stunning. The large format photos are breathtaking. I have Edmaier's previous book, Earthsong, and have been a fan of his work for years.

What an excellent book. If you're into volcanoes then this is the book for you. Volcanoes from around the world are pictured in the book. All pictures are of high quality, and the printing and finish of the book is excellent. There is a brief introduction which explains the different types of volcano which exist, followed by the pictures which each come with a very brief explaination of what is being shown. One word of caution - the book is huge !!! You will probably need to read it on a table. Trying to read it whilst sat up in bed is not recommended (unless you're built like Popeye).

I fell in love with the title of this book and knew I had to buy it as a gift to myself!It's very informative with amazing photographs from around the world. If you love volcanoes, this book is for you. Good combination of science theory and beautiful images. It is quite large, so has its own place on a shelf!It's a wonderful book.
