🌊 Dive into Nature's Best with Cholla Wood!
This set of 4 pieces of Large Cholla Wood, each measuring 5-6 inches, serves as a natural PH buffering ornament for aquariums. Ideal for anchoring aquatic plants and moss, it promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria and microfauna, making it a perfect habitat for shrimp and other aquatic creatures. Additionally, it's versatile enough for use in terrariums and as chew toys for small animals.

Beautiful pieces of wood, but arrive filthy dirty!
For a product meant to be used in a fish tank, it came in absolutely no condition to be used immediately for that purpose. These pieces of wood were simply picked off the ground, cut, stuffed in a bag, and shipped. When they say untreated, they really mean UNTREATED! They were not even washed, or for that matter dusted off. They arrived filled with at least a pound of dirt and sediment, which I had to knock off, and then poke out with a screw driver. Over the ensuing month, I had to boil and soak these pieces of wood at least a dozen times to remove the excess dirt, sediment and tannins. If you don't follow a similar procedure to clean and water-log these pieces of wood, they will turn your aquarium into something resembling iced tea. I gave them 3 stars, because I am using them exactly in the manner I had intended, and they really are beautiful in my tank. The lattice like holes, and the center hole give this wood real personality in a tank. The fish and crayfish in my tank seem to love it. The pieces were also very nice sizes, and the center holes are large enough for small shrimp and crayfish to hide and live in. My only complaint is how filthy they were on delivery, and the amount of preparation and treating I had to do before I could use them. I wish they had at least cleaned off the excess dirt and sediment. I probably would have given them another star.

Definitely unique!
This wood had the expected 6" in length. The problem (for me) is that most people got the common one inch diameter pieces; I got two of those common ones and two huge pieces at about 2.5" diameter. On top of that, one of them being in T shape for an extra inch. Not to complain as they do state they were going to be unique; but again, not what I was expecting as those two big ones take up a lot of space and the inside is not see through. I had to sink those two logs for over three weeks without luck. Ended up boiling all the pieces at least 6 times as water evaporated and leaving them another week on water. That way, I didn't get pieces of dirt and stuff on my beige sand. The tanning is expected, and a good 4 months have already passed; it still stains but without adding debris to the tank. These are for sure untreated and require extra work from the buyer. I would still recommend this to others.

Beautiful Pieces!
1 piece was really dirty when they arrived. You couldn't even see through the holes so I took a drill bit and carved out all of the dirt and everything else that was clogged up inside and now it looks just like the rest. I really love them. Only took about 3 hours for 3 of them to sink and it took the largest one about 7 or 8 hours to sink. No big deal. When I first recieved them I almost sent them back because they looked so small but they were very nice so I kept them and after I put them in the tank they look great and I'm glad I didn't return them. I'm including a picture but you can't see the pretty color because a piece of Driftwood in my tank has my water brown at the moment. Well worth the money! My Cichlids love them.

Nice aquarium wood, for form and function
I like these. They look great in my aquarium. Their structure gives plenty of places to attach live plants or moss, and for beneficial bacteria to grow, while allowing water to flow through. I stuck some in the substrate, like tree trunks (I plan on attaching some kind of plant or moss to the tops, so they will look like some kind of cool tree). I have another just leaning on a piece of petrified wood, like fallen timber. They all floated in the tank, at first, as you would expect dry wood to do. 3 of the 4 pieces sank, pretty quickly. The 4th piece still hadn't sunk, after a couple of days. So, that was one of the pieces I stuck in the substrate, just to hold it down.

great addition
These make a huge impact! I have a 45 gal with silk plants and these even made the plants look not so fake. I was seriously disappointed when I first opened them I thought they were so small but, I gave it a chance. I soaked them for about a week cleaned out any dirt and debris left over and put them in the tank. My fish and snails love them they are not big but once in the tank I quickly discovered they were the perfect size. There has not been any noticeable effect in the PH after 3 weeks so I'll keep watching. I very happy with this purchase and when you open it up yes it will seem small but once in the tank they add so much visual interest and seem much bigger.

Not happy with Large Cholla Wood
Very disappointed, sending them back, they are indeed about 6 inches long, which is ok.. but the diameter is about 1/2 inch.. some a bit bigger, most a bit smaller.. They did not tell you this.....the center hole in most is not open and there is no way Red Cherry Shrimp , which are very small could fit into these Large Cholla Wood pieces. Plus, If you don't want your tank to turn brown from Cholla Wood you must clean out the centers with a brush, get out all the lose wood. There is NO way you can do that with this size Cholla Wood. I have what i would call, Large Cholla Wood pieces in my tanks now. Wanted to buy about 25 more pieces to give to my fish club members for Christmas.... The pieces i have in my tanks, are 6 to 10 inches long, about 2.5 to 4 inches in diameter. The Placo's and Shrimp love to eat the inside of the wood. They eat it from the inside out.. Have a few pieces that have been eaten in half. The also like to hide in them. I would not recommend buying these.

Happy with over all item and Hermit crabs are happy ...
Items received as described: four 5-6 inch cholla wood pieces. Bought for hermit crabs and work well for purpose. Hermit crabs are able to climb all over using these wood pieces. Pieces arrived clean. Worked perfectly in 10 gallon sized tank, with use of other decor. Happy with over all item and Hermit crabs are happy with new climbing gear in the tank. Would order again when pieces need replaced. Holding up to moister in tank with keeping in 80% humidity range. Simple packaging. No odors.

Good quality for a decent price
These cholla pieces were, as other reviewers have stated, a little smaller than I expected. Otherwise I have absolutely no complaints! I boiled them for a few hours, changing the water once or twice until they were no longer leaching tannins. After I put them in the tank, they looked fine and didn't change the water color at all. After about a month now, they have bleached a little from the tank lighting, but are otherwise great! My pleco likes them, too. :P
