Bunny’s FAVORITE hay
Tried all the popular to fancy to store quality brands, Viking Farmer has remained my and my picky bun’s favorite. When I first reviewed it on Chewy last year, I was surprised there werent more raving reviews. Thrilled to find it on Amazon now. It’s so green and luscious I almost feel like eating it myself lol! Stems are long which is better for rabbit digestion than the short cut up hay. It keeps them occupied as well. And the fact that it comes from small farmers makes me feel good. One thing I realized is that hay is a seasonal thing. The box isn’t always going to be perfect, but so far I’ve been lucky with Viking Farmer.Sorry for the long review but I felt compelled to write this because after my little bun had a scary bout of GI stasis/obstruction, the first hay I turned to once he was well enough was Viking Farmer. Lo and behold, his droppings have never looked better, he has more energy, he wastes less hay. It was also the only Timothy hay he consistently ate when weaning him off Alfalfa hay (which is also amazing from this brand). The only reason I tried other brands in between was there was a point where it wouldn’t deliver from Chewy soon enough. Fresh, top quality, good value, ideal for digestion. And of course no hay dust. Please never stop selling this hay!!

This 1st cut Timothy hay is beautiful.
I just opened a new box of Viking Farmer Timothy Hay and this hay is beautiful! The strands are long and the hay is a beautiful fresh green. My little bunny was immediately excited to start chowing down this hay. He has the enthusiasm of a child with a big bowl of their favorite ice cream! I am so happy that I have found the right supplier to provide high quality hay for my sweet honey bunny.

bunny approved (UPDATED REVIEW)
*******UPDATED REVIEWS AS OF 1/3/2025******A little over a year ago this brand was going downhills beacuse the pervious owner just didnt care anymore and i was stressing out about where i was going to get this good kind of natural quilty hay. Every other place that was even close to compression was just so bad! BUT I gotta say that since the new owners took over this hay brand I've been soo beyond pleased. The hay is back to its extremely high quality!!!!!!! my bunnies eat it so fast that I've set up a 2 week delivery now, it clearly tastes amazing, and this might be TMI but as a bunnies owner their poops have never looked better 🤣. I highly highly recommend this hay to any bunny owner that wants good smelling, bug free, clean, and healthy hay. As long as you store it properly it really stays fresh for a while. Again the new owners are rocking it and as long as this quality keeps up I'll be costumer forever. My bunny really loves this hay. He Always tries to eat it right out of the box. It's fresh, has a good smell, and isn't cut so short. I like that there are longer pieces.

quality has gone down, second time late shipment
Our bun has loved Viking Farmer first cut Timothy hay 5 lb boxes for over a year, and the quality was always fresh and great. The last two subscription shipments were delayed, with no estimated arrival date. Worse, the last two shipments were packed full of dried seed heads, and she had GI stasis. The vet explained it was because the seed heads have zero fiber, and they should be limited, suggesting trying Oxbow instead. Our bun loved this hay, but if the quality and shipping don't improve in the next shipment, we will have to find another source, this is expensive hay.Update: Very unhappy after throwing away so many boxes of Timothy Hay. What a waste. We cancelled our subscription and have switched to Oxbow. Our bunny loves the vet's recommendation of Oxbow Orchard Hay mixed with some of Oxbow's Western Timothy Hay.

Wheak!
I was running low on hay, and decided to take the easy route and order online so that I can stay in my jammies and not brave the public. The box came in great condition, and the hay seems long and tough. I have 2 diva guinea pigs that will not touch it, but my other 3 are eating it okay.Whenever I receive these orders now, I do save the box, cut it down and use it as their kitchen area. I put bedding at the bottom of the box, create and easy opening that they can jump in and out of, while keeping the hay and bedding in one area. If this product ever changes its packaging, or quality, I will be really sad, as the box is now my go to item for their cages.I do find that some of the hay is a little too long for their enclosure, but I have found that if you grab a small amount at a time, you can easily fold the hay in half and they can forage through it easily.

Rabbit approved - green and fresh!
I’m always nervous purchasing from Amazon as freshness is typically questionable but this stuff is great! Much more green than the oxbow I bought at petsmart. My bun hopped right in the box and started chomping away. She loves this hay! Happy to know they don’t have any cases of RHVD2 and that they test for that in their hay. I plan to purchase some of their other varieties as well!

Not the best hay.
Lets see--some pieces nice & fresh. But, mostly brittle, moldy, brown with sharp pointy thistles. Too many stems & seed heads. Not very good at all. Contacted seller supposedly under new ownership. Have not heard back. Wont order again.
