The Forever Forest: Kids Save a Tropical Treasure

My family and I love this book. We are planning a trip to Costa Rica and this has a nice story with interesting facts about the animals we hope to see. I mean really interesting facts! Some reviews complained about the animal facts getting in the way of the story, but I didn’t feel that way. We just read the story part first then read the animal fact before turning the page.

Great book to teach children about how they can make a difference. Great side notes on the different species found in the Costa Rican forest.

The idea for this book is excellent and I am going to use it but I'll probably have to heavily edit the text as I go. It isn't bad. It's just very boring and unclear for kids in a lot of areas. There is no explanation of what the Forever Forest is in the beginning. It jumps in in a confusing way and then the text is largely uninspired. The illustrations are also not great. The characters are done in a completely different style from the forest, as if they aren't really in the forest but looking at it in a book as well. It gives a general sense of disconnection from the natural environment. I would think that the book would want to promote the very opposite. So, in general, I would love to see this idea done better but for now I am glad to have the book because the story is important enough that I'll work with what there is.
