Buy this - your husband will feel like the most manly of men
I got this as a little gift for my husband, not expecting much because it was extremely affordable (just days prior, I had to pull him away from a saleslady at Williams Sonoma who was showing him the 💰elegant💰cast iron skillets).This. Changed. Him. He immediately grew more chest hair, became more muscular, and I think I saw his jawline become more angular. He immediately got a bunch of bacon and other meats and got to work seasoning it.Even if you don't get it to bring joy to a grown man's heart, this is an excellent product at a very affordable price and if you cook, your kitchen should have a cast iron pan.

Brutal weight.
Bought this for smashing a face if it comes to it. It has a brutal weight and black metal composition. 2300 Newtons of force will be easily achieved.

Solid, no flaws
Perfect. Out of habit, I still continued pre-seasoning process, farm raised bacon in oven at 425; in during pre-heat and cool-down time. First use fresh: farm eggs over easy: result excellent no stick. Second use: corn bread from fresh ground corn; again results excellent, no stick. By-the-way – never wash just wipe out.Corn Bread:1 ½ cup corn meal¾ cup flour1/8 cup (approx.) sugar½ tsp salt¼ tsp baking powder¼ tsp baking soda2 fresh eggs1 ½ cup buttermilk – add more till pourableSkillet in oven while pre-heating to 425Remove add ¼ cup bacon greaseWhen melted add corn bread mix25 min at 425 – remove when golden brownHardest part – allow to set 10-15 minutesBest part – slice, remove slice butter and honey, consume.

Much better than expected.
I was a little eerie of getting this since I had bad experience with cast iron earlier. But then I realized that I did not know how to take care of it and handle it. So this time, I studied how to take care of it and did just that. It is not all that difficult. It cooks faster and it does not take much time to clean also. I love it. It may be a little heavy to handle. Once I get old, this may be an issue:=))But until such time I highly recommend it. For those who are concerned with using lot of oil or butter, I do not recommend this. But just so you know, that is old school. Butter (organic) is actually healthy for you. Just my thought.

So far so good
I have tro say it arrived with a chipped finish in the red enamel handle. Probably from shipping. Amazon made an adjustment and I kept it because given tim I'll chip it too. The interior is a black enamel resembling Staub pans that I love. The interior finish is much rougher though. My solurtion was to take a piece of 2000 grit sandpaper which polishes things and run it lightly on the inside. So I used it. made bacon and eggs, seasoned it in the oven and it was still grabby with eggs so I sanded it lightly a second time. This time with Ghee and a thin metal spatula I could cook fragile sunny side up eggs without breaking them. At this point I know it will begin to take on a more advanced seasoning and become more nonstick over time as my older 10" pan of a similar consruction already has. A winner.

Meh
You will need to preseason this skillet again. Whatever they did to “preseason” it was not sufficient. After all the proper prep, we cooked in it once and all the chicken thighs stuck. After preseasoning it a second time, it works great.

Fantastic skillet
I LOVE this skillet. I got it because I am thinking of switching to induction and wanted to see if I could get used to cooking with cast iron. It comes pre-seasoned but cast iron can always be seasoned more. I have a smooth top range so any cast iron I use has to be enameled on the outside. So far the enamel has not chipped at all. I make fajitas in this all the time and re-season every time, so it is getting more and more nonstick. To clean it I scrape it to get off anything stuck, then put some hot water in it and swish it with a brush. No soap. Wipe it with a paper towel to dry it and then wipe a little Crisco in it (I read that oil makes the coating sticky). Done. I gave it only 4 stars for cleaning because nothing is as easy to clean as a Teflon skillet. I got a silicone handle cover for it (and a matching cover for the helper handle), which I use all the time. It is, of course, quite heavy, but that's part of the deal when you buy cast iron. When I first got it, it seemed a little rough inside, but as I build the seasoning it is getting smoother. I think maybe the roughness might give the seasoning the ability to soak in and fill the pores.

Used it Last Night
I used the skillet for the first time last night and seared some steaks. I'm very pleased with it. It seemed to distribute the heat evenly and stayed hot.As for clean up, truth be told, I didn't clean it last night because I wanted the steak seasoning to sink in. (I'm from the South, you have to season a skillet). I'll clean it today. The most important note is to put it back on the stove after you've cleaned it and heat it up then let it cool again. Just a tip from my grandmother!
