The definitive antenna reference for amateur radio, with free & fast Prime shipping!
The definitive antenna reference book from ARRL, but with free and fast Prime shipping. Can't beat that unless you go to a hamfest and buy one in person! The book I received was truly new as well, and the CD was sealed and intact in it's attached packet in the back of the book. One thing to note though about this book; it says you get a special version of the EZNEC antenna modeling program with it. Not really. You get all kinds of demo software on the CD, including a demo of EZNEC. But the demo only allows you to create antenna models with a maximum of 20 wire segments, which is about enough to do a simple dipole. There are some included files for examples in the book, and they have more segments, but I do not believe you can edit these. So if you want full functionality for EZNEC, you'll still have to pony up $100 to the author. Worth it IMHO if you're doing antenna projects--it's much better to model on the computer and get your design right vs. trial and error on the roof, cutting or adding wire!

Great to to manual for Amateur radio enthusiasts.
Another home run. This book put out by ARRL for radio communications has a lot of very good in-depth information on antenna design and construction. There is also a lot of very useful information on the science of electromagnetic fields and waves and is an excellent go to manual for anyone involved with Amateur radio. Antenna design and construction is a field that Amateurs have contributed to for state of the art antenna design on a regular basis and will likely do so for years to come. This manual also has an additional cd for antennae modeling and additional related information.

Printing mistake
I'm not sure how this one made it out the QA door. There is hardly any margin (approx 1/4") on the spine side of the pages such that the text curves around paper as a page turns to the spine/binding of the book. It makes the end of every line on the left pages and beginning of every line on the right pages, a little difficult to read. I find myself constantly pulling at and trying to flatten the pages and moving the book around trying to read the ends of the lines. This problem is more evident in the first pages of the book and starts to disappear around quarter of the way through the book. Hopefully I just have the one bad one and/or the soft cover version doesn't have this error. Also, I was disappointed that the very first page is a full color advertisement for a 3rd party. For the price they charge for the book, I'd expect it to be ad free. Or at the very least, to put adds together at the end of the book. For me at least, this book is a little more advanced and assumes more base knowledge than I was expecting. For example, it's been a long time since I learned and understood Logarithms in math class. On the plus side, so far the information is good, detailed, well presented and explained.

The one and only
This is the one book every ham radio operator should have on his or her shelf. At least for me -- a fanatic about building my own antennas -- I find myself reaching for this book far more than any other amateur radio book. Just the other day, my ham club needed to do some maintenance on an old tower, so once again I turned to this classic for clear, definitive guidance. Once again I was not disappointed. My old copy was several revisions old, so I just upgraded, as the old copy was getting tired and frayed. My only regret was that I could not find a hardcover copy. I wish more hard covers had been published.

The bonus CD is very helpful !
This is not a cookbook for the radio enthusiast. Lots of theory and specifics about antenna design, radio waves, atmosphere and propagation . As a lifelong radio hobbyist since a very young age, and a consumer electronics service and engineering professional, this was exactly what I was looking for. The articles and topics in this ARRL book will be very appropriate for the serious amateur radio operator.

Great Resource
Despite the complaints here about the printing going too close to the margins I found this to be an excellent book. There is so much information crammed in here its literally spilling into the margins!

Mostly good information
I purchased this for my husband. Unfortunately for him, there were several sections where the items he wanted information on had to be looked up online. He doesn't use a computer, so found this very annoying.
