Get that extra level of preventative oral hygiene care!
Great toothbrush that has been a game changer in oral hygiene. Bought this after last dental visit to get that extra level of care and have not been disappointed. Holds a charge well, plenty or differ t replacement heads available and comes with a nice charger stand.

Everything you need in an electric toothbrush, without any of the overpriced, useless, extras!
This toothbrush is so much nicer than my old Oral-B! My old brush had to be all of 15 years old. I couldn't travel with it because the battery wouldn't last for more than 1 brushing session at a time. I'd brush in the am, charge all day and be barely charged to brush at night. I couldn't share the base with my husband because there wasn't enough time between charges for us both to use it!If this new brush lasts anywhere nearly as long as my old one, I'll be ecstatic! I looked at the higher models and the lower end units, and I think this Pro 1000 has everything that is needed for the best price. Oral-B has the best priced replacement heads, a variety of heads to fit different needs, and has a built in 2 minute timer. That 2 minute timer is so helpful. I used to bring a watch into the bathroom every time I'd brush just to be sure I was brushing long enough. The timer on the brush works so much better, no more staring at a watch! It buzzes every 30 seconds to tell you to move on to the next section, and after 2 minutes, it does a longer buzz. What I really like is while it tells you your 2 minutes is up, it keeps working so you don't have to restart to brush any spot that needs more.I charged the brush fully, and it lasted a full week with twice a day brushing on that single charge. I didn't want it to die, so I recharged after 1 week, so I don't know how long it will last, but I do know at least for 1 week at full strength. This brush also has a pressure sensor, but I've never been able to trigger it. I guess I'm brushing with the proper pressure. It's a good feature to have if that's something you have an issue with. What this brush doesn't have is all of the crazy extras. Bluetooth? UV Lights? Travel case? Thanks, but no thanks. I just want clean teeth. When I purchased, black was the cheapest. Now it's white. Unless you are tied to a color to match your bathroom, check the different colors to find the best price. However, if you can keep the brush in an enclosed area, that's the best. I saw a video as a kid of what mists into the air when a toilet is flushed. Sufficed to say MANY years later, I won't flush unless the lid is closed, and my toothbrush NEVER sits out. Youtube has a Sky 1 video demonstrating this. Watch it. Actually, don't, just take my word for it. Close the seat, and keep the toothbrush put away!

Seems to work well but takes some getting used to - and my dentist approves!
UPDATE one year into use: when I visited the dentist about six months after starting with this toothbrush I had the best dentist visit I have ever had. No exaggeration. The hygienist told me, and this is a direct quote: "you didn't leave anything for me to do!" I was amazed. I swap out the head every three months, even though they still look rather good at that point. But the new ones always feel better/stiffer. And the manufacturer and my dentist recommends replacing the heads that frequently. I definitely tell my family and friends to switch to the Oral-B Pro 1000.I switched (after many, many years) from the Sonicare to the Oral-B Pro 1000, when my old brush finally died. I've been using the Oral-B for about a month now. At first it seemed like it would send toothpaste flying everywhere, because the brush head stem is larger than the old toothbrush. But now I don't wet the brush/paste before using it (plenty of saliva in my mouth) and things are much better. However, it does seem quite loud while brushing (feels like a hedge trimmer sound in my mouth). When turning it on outside my mouth, as when I clean it off, it's not loud at all though. I do like how it warns me I am applying too much pressure by lowering the sound. Very noticeable for me. And I feel I am getting a better brushing than I did with my old brush. All in all I definitely would recommend this brush to family and friends. It is a nice toothbrush at a good price.

It's a very good toothbrush for basic cleaning, but sadly it's quite noisy. VERY SLOW CHARGING!
I've watched so many reviews of electric toothbrushes and read a number of head-to-head comparisons. And frankly, it's a bit disgusting how saturated is the electric toothbrush market. Even within a given brand like Braun! Folks, brushing your teeth is NOT a complex task. I really do not understand why people are falling for these super expensive feature laden electric toothbrushes. Bluetooth? Seriously? Who keeps track of their brushing statistics? There's really only 4 things you need: 1) fast motor, 2) timer, 3) multiple settings, 4) good charging.* A fast oscillating motor is important for thorough cleaning.* A timer helps you keep track of progress* High, medium, and low settings are good depending upon the level of cleaning required* Reasonable number of uses per charge, and reasonably fast chargingThere's no question, the motor on this Pro 1000 is fast enough. I can't see needing faster. The timer is fixed at 30 seconds. And this is good, because you divide your upper and lower teeth into 2 sections, that's 4 x 30 seconds = 2 minutes. So I do 1 quadrant for 30 seconds, the toothbrush vibrates 2 times, I switch to the next quadrant. At the end of the 4th quadrant, the toothbrush vibrates 4 times. Simple. You know you're done. No beeping or LED indicator necessary. While there are 3 settings, I tend to use the deep cleaning one most of the time. The Pro 1000 has deep, gentle, and oscillating clean modes. When you first turn it on you begin with deep. That's good for me, as I only have to press once. To get to the other modes, you press another time. And unfortunately, there's no visual indication of what mode you are in. If you change modes, the timer resets. There does seem to be a reasonable number of uses per charge, however... the time to recharge? AWFUL! It takes a full 24 hours to fully charge. This is... extremely annoying. As a result, I have a backup toothbrush I use while this one is charging. My backup? it's a $8 battery powered Oral-B, which is actually a very decent toothbrush on its own. Now, you might ask... why don't I just leave it on the charger? Because that's a bad habit which causes battery life to diminish faster. Probably the best practice is to leave the toothbrush on the charger base most of the time, then once a month have a reminder to take the toothbrush off the charger and just use it until the low battery indicator appears. For a modern day rechargeable battery device like this? Charging shouldn't take more than 8 hours. I guess the problem is that there's not a lithium ion battery inside, for safety.Lastly, the pressure sensor that lets you know you're pressing too hard? It's very difficult to trigger it! Useless. Well, most people should already have a good practice on pressure as it is. I don't see it as a necessary feature. So, no points off for that.Lately I've noticed the price is $49.95. That's a bit high. I paid $29.99 when it was on sale. I think it comes up 2 or 3 times a year. At $30? It's a very good deal._________________________________________________________________________________TL;DR ?When it's on sale for $30? Buy it! It's a very good value. The only real negative ding is the painfully long time to recharge. 24 hours is just too much, for what I consider acceptable. But you could leave it on the charger most of the time, then once a month let it run down. You have about 3 brushing sessions once the low battery light comes on.
