Great knives
Knives of Alaska make great knives. I own several and they are awesome. Well made, durable, and quality steel helps keep these knives sharp after tons of usage. I have been a hunter and fisherman for most of life and after years of working around different types of knives I almost exclusively use these.

Rusts easily, will loose the edge quickly
Purchased this knife in New Zealand from a company who imports Knives of Alaska products.Pros:Nice looking knifeSolid gripSolid workmanship for the moneyPerfect blade shapeCons:It just can not stand saltwater or salty environments, and rusts really easy. This means you will loose the sharpness very quickly as the blade rusts in the closed plastic sheet even faster.Even when you sharpen it(I used the Edge Pro Apex) the 440C metal looses edge sharpness quickly.Summary:Average, unfortunately the 440C just is not up to the job as mentioned above.I would not buy it again, so once this knife needs replacing I will be looking for a different filleting knife.

Good Knife but 440C steel not D-2
This is a good overall knife. I got it for under $50 on Amazon.I have no complaints about the knife. It is good design and came professionally sharpened and polished out of the box with a convex edge. The handle design is very good and the hand will not slip with the finger notches. It is made in the US and relatively inexpensive. The only minor complaint that I have is it looked like it was D-2 steel on Amazon, but it was 440C which is generally a less desirable softer steel than D-2.The knife is still worth what I paid for it but I am sure some people who are expecting D-2 steel will be disappointed with the 400C.

Great knife
Best fillet knife I've ever had, and I've had quite a few. Nice flexible blade, easy to sharpen, and a handle that should last forever.

Great knife
Great ergonomics, very sharp. Use it for boning deer. It's the perfect size. Planning on getting another one for the kitchen.

Perfect balance of rigidity and flexibility
I have cleaned hundreds of fish with this knife. It stands up to salt water well, and it sharpens fairly easily. It is ideally suited for silver and red salmon or large trout. This is my second knife like this as I bought this one for my friend who blames his current blade for his lack of filleting prowess. The blade stiffness allows for quite confident side pressure when removing the the filet, but it is flexible enough to skin the filet perfectly. Knives of Alaska got it right with this one.
