They look like a barbell. Two round ends and straight in between. Once wrapped around the cord, the two round ends fit against each other. One side of the "barbel" is smooth. One side is velcro-like. They measure about 1 3/4" long. The round ends measure 1/2 " each. Making the straight in between about 3/4". Hope that helps

Are they reusable? Can the lettering be erased and reused?

If you were to use a pencil or even erasable pen, yes you could erase the lettering to write something new. And because these labels are made with hook and loop, they are reusable in the sense that they can be taken off and put back on a cord as much as you want. Hope this helps! Andrew

My handwriting is horrible. I'd rather print my own labels and stick them on the cord labels. Will a label stick to it?

For the regular sized label, I'm going to try using clear printable labels, e.g., https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085H7ZPRQ/?coliid=IZ9PJUCFNHBEQ&colid=3VRIHLY26U17D&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it I may also try printing labels on standard printer paper, cutting them out, then attaching them with rubber cement.

what kind of pen do you use so that it does not smear?

I use a PTouch label maker and not a pen.
