What the heck would I do without my P209s?
My 5yo daughter uses the term "P209" when referring to pencils ever since she was a toddler. That's how much I revere these little workhorses and apparently use the term a lot as she picked it up. These are phenomenal mechanical pencils that I use often around the workshop, home, and office. I've all but thrown away all my #2s. The thicker lead is super robust and strong enough to supercede all your other pencils for marking material at the chop saw, scribbling sketches on random chunks of plywood, writing down hardware store lists on 2x4 cutoffs, laying out hole patterns on steel, and even - get this - writing things down on paper. The eraser is rather meager and a chore to get to... but I never make mistakes anyway (ha) and prefer the old "X it out" technique anyhow. They are yellow (well, I guess there's other colors, but who wants anything but OG yellow) and easy to spot across the shop, have a great clip for pocket carrying (my wife likes to rib me about carrying a pencil everywhere but immediately turns to me when she needs to write something down, ha!), have a satisfying and reliable click when you advance the lead, are really durable and put with my constant abuse, and are really reasonably priced for those times when the underwear gnomes come and take them away for profit, so it's no big deal to replace. Buy a 12-pack and you're good to go for a good long while. For an eraser hack, see Van Neistat on YouTube... for those with a lathe, make them with that instead of an epoxy booger.

Excellent Mechanical Pencil
I first learned about Pentel Sharp mechanical pencils from the architectural and engineering office of my organization, where they are the standard. The preference in A&E is for thinner leads, which I tend to break. So I turned to the 0.9mm lead size and couldn't be happier with it. The pencils themselves are comfortable and easy to use, with a smoothly operating mechanism, serrated grip surface, sturdy pocket clip, and effective polymer eraser. The slim shape and somewhat compact size are also benefits. The B and HB leads that I use write smoothly. Everything is refillable and the pencil lasts indefinitely. In sum, the Pentel Sharp is the standard for good reason.

One of the best 0.9mm Mechanical Pencils
Pentel Sharp P209G is one of the best mechanical pencils in the market. It is cost-effective, durable, aesthetically pleasing and easy and comfortable to hold. I bought it in bulk as it was cheaper. I needed about 10 pencils for different leads (4H, 2H, H, Red, Blue, HB, B, 2B, etc.) for my sketching needs. The use of different colors for different lead diameters makes it easy to pick the pencils from a group. Pentel Sharp comes in 4 diameters .3mm (Brown), .5mm (Green), .7mm Blue and .9mm (Yellow). I would recommend this product to all who are looking for a good mechanical pencil that will not dent your wallet.

Who knows what you'll get?
I ordered 3 boxes of 12, and got 3 orders of 1 pencil. Amazon said I needed to talk to Pentel, Pentel said I needed to talk to Amazon. After back and forth with Amazon, they agreed to send three boxes of 12. I got 3 more individual pencils. After several hours of chatting, I was told they couldn't ship me what I originally ordered. The pencils themselves are really good, but the bad review is specifically for the 12-count box, since somewhere in their process they can't seem to differentiate them from individual pencils.

Functionality
Liked the durability of the lead size as less apt to break for a heavy hand. Body design was comfortable to write with.

Pentel still the best
made the mistake of purchasing another unknown name brand. they sucked. Back to my original Pentel. always great function. I use in field, construction, office. I only wish that Pentel still included the lead cleaner that used to be stuck in the bottom of the eraser.

Love these pencils
Use the for work as a trim carpenter. I prefer the smaller lead size. But I cannot believe that I bought these in May 2023 for $13.99. Now they are $39. But $3.28 per pencil is a good deal to me. Going to be my work pencils for life.
