Q: Would these work to hang a tapestry?

I guess it would depend on how heavy the material you are hanging is ? Light or medium weight would be okay, but something heavy might not- mY need to use something stronger, or a different way of hanging it. The edges on these clips might be rough on a delicate tapestry too.

Q: Will these hold pages of a book opened?

Yes, they are really strong. I use them for a 30 inch canvas. It holds my 5lb clip board so I’m sure it’s strong enough to rip the pages of a book if not handled correctly.

Q: can this clip onto the cover of a binder to act as a clipboard?

It depends on how big the binder is. If it’s a average typical school binder, they are big enough to clip things onto it. These clips are great, I use them every day for my art Drawing course and they act as clamps for my 24 inch art paper on a 26x29 in clip board.

Q: How much strength is required to open the clamps? In comparison to binder clips which i can no longer squeeze open

I have not found that it's does not l take much strength to squeeze the clips open.
