Squeegee for your pups
I've never been able to get quite the clarity out of Les Paul neck pickups that I'd like. I've thought a few times about putting a humbucker-sized P90 in the neck position of my favorite Gibson. Recently I came across a gorgeous Japanese lawsuit Les Paul from the 70s. The wood's great, but the pups that came stock from Asia were awful. I really like the DG20 set in my favorite Strat, so I decided to give EMGs a try in my new LP. I play mostly blues/classic rock type stuff, so I went for the 57/66 set. The pups sounded good, but the neck was just as muddy as any LP humbucker I'd ever tried. I looked at switching that pup out with a HA humbucker-sized single coil, and then I noticed the RPC control. Sounded like just what I needed! Wiring it to just the neck pickup isn't covered in the wiring instructions for some reason, but you can follow the wiring instructions for EMG's VLPF active tone control available on their website. Once installed, I had a reverse tone knob on my neck pup that takes it from a stock flat EQ that's as close to woman-tone as I care to get up to a nice bright but balanced neck pup tone that I dig. All while actually BOOSTING the power of the humbucker. Really cuts through the mix! This is a great control if you've got too much sludge coming out of a pup and want to tame it and bring out the higher end.

this one feels the most like a normal tone control
Of the EMG active tone controls, this one feels the most like a normal tone control, but way better quality at all settings. Use this if you want a more dynamic tone control that doesn't suck out the good parts of the sound.

Incredible Single Coil Simulation
I use this on a Schecter C-7 Hellraiser with two Duncan Phase II Blackouts. It is incredible how well this thing simulates a single-coil sound.
