Stone Guard Pickup Truck Towing Rock Mud Flap Protection Hitch System

I use this guard on my pickup truck to prevent gravel from hitting my travel trailer. The guard seems to be stronger than most of the guards I have seen. However like all the other guards, the guard is attached to the "stinger"and not on the truck's hitch. If possible I will attempt to place it permanently on the hitch. Although the guard is built well, the U-bolt allows some movement of the guard. I am going to build a bracket system and replace the U-bolt. I think most guards attach the same way? Delivery took six business days (10 days total). The guard does add some weight to the "stinger" portion of the hitch mechanism. It would be easier to have someone to stabilize the guard as you attach i to the stinger. I would add lock washers or lock nuts to prevent loosening of the guard while driving.

This stone guard rides Extremely high off the ground. The mounting bracket which is only a u bolt to mount it to your hitch is ridiculous and not very well planned out. The whole mounting bracket is thin aluminum and over time will wear out. Plus did a phone transaction to purchase this unit and the gentlemen never mentioned that with the money back guarantee that was so great if you did not like it you had to pay return shipping plus they take off their shipping cost when they refund you the money. Save your money and frustration and buy from a company that makes more then a few 100 in the few years they have been making them because it shows in the development of this product. Looks like it belongs on a kids plastic little tyke jeep.

Overall I was dissatisfied after purchasing a "Stone Guard Mud Flap" manufactured in North Dakota. I had to cut down to size the mud flap to fit my Chev 2500 Silverado. The u bolt mounting assembly to the equalizer hitch was incredibly flimsy!! In less than a year, the entire Stone Guard was lost somewhere as I traveled. Save your money and buy a better mud flap.
