Roof rack fitted but not snug

I used these for two trips to France. Once in France, they came off, so in practice they were only used for hours. A nut that is in the foot came out and was lost (poor design). Now Amazon is limited to the 2 year warranty and Maypole the UK distributor says they cannot ship a spare foot to Ireland. So for the want of a 20mm nut, I must buy new. I could try a fix myself, but imagine if that failed at 120 kph on a French motorway. I wish I'd checked it last summer as I could still have returned for refund.

Bought these for a Skoda Kamiq and they were extremely easy to fit and lock into place. I do check them every week to make sure they haven't worked loose, and so far they never have. The lock is a good idea as it stops casual nighttime rogues from getting easy access to them and taking them off. My only problem is that even after having them on for many months, I still occasionally bang my head on them getting into the car.

I bought this for moving timber and ladders. Very simple to install using the long alan key provided and you get a set of keys to lock the adjuster after fitting. Seems sturdy so far.

On the plus side fit and ease of attachment more than acceptable. Tick. Obviously these rails are pitched at the budget end of the market. No problem with that either. On the negative side, the exposed gap on the underside of the rails provide high wind noise. Common issue that is addressed by a sealing rubber strip that is NOT included. There is an 'accessory' that can had to solve the problem. Set aside why you need to accessorise something that is new, designed to carry stuff on your car roof and therefore prone to being noisy as the wind speed increases. My interaction with the seller, to try to source said sealing strip, led nowhere. If you want an inexpensive, noisy set of rails that take no time to install then go for it. If anyone reading this knows (before I reach for the duct tape) where the rubber strip can be bought, please let me know!
