Cal Lighting BO-117FL-AB Floor Lamp Pharmacy Collection with Adjust Pole in Antique Brass Finish

Prior to purchasing this lamp for my living room I was using a "swing arm" style lamp that had seen its days. I looked through quite a number of different types of lamps on Amazon and narrowed my search down to 4 lamps. I then read the reviews on each and decided on this one.My decision was based not only on appearance but also because another reviewer mentioned the heavy base, which is crucial for me as I have it on carpet next to my recliner.When the lamp arrived it was undamaged and easy to assemble. I added my own CFL bulb and happily discovered that with my "100 watt" equivalent CFL the light output was actually too much as the lamp has a silver reflector plate that reflects light out into the room. I decreased my CFL to a "6o watt" equivalent bulb and the light is perfect for reading and other uses. This lamp also uses the "old fashioned"standard bulbs.This lamp is well made and handsome in appearance and does have a "heavy base" that provides stability even on carpet.I highly recommend this lamp if you are in the market for this style lamp. I would recommend this lamp to a friend.

This lamp looked great and served its purpose perfectly for about 7 weeks. The pull string to turn the lamp on and off began to require more effort to pull. Within a few hours pull string was malfunctioned and it didn't click the light on and off. I emailed the manufacturer to see if there was anything I could do but never heard back. It was too late to return, couple weeks past 30 days. I do not recommend this lamp because it stopped working so quickly and there is no support for it.

I bought two of these lamps, one for each side of the bed. We've had them for about two months now, and we are very happy with them. They are attractive, well-made and sturdy. The base is heavy enough that they remain stable when pulling the cord. They have adjustable height. I really like the pull cord, as it is easy to find by waving a hand in the dark. The top turns easily from side to side to move the top out of the way when necessary, and the lamp cover itself turns easily around the bulb. One of the best features is that the inside of the bulb cover has a reflective coating. This causes the light to reflect and cast fully over my reading area. We point the bulb covers slightly away from the bed so that the bulbs don't shine in our eyes, and yet the reflected light still casts light more fully than our previous bedside lamp, and is perfect for reading. The reflected light is also softer than direct light from a bulb, which helps when one of us decides to stay up and read and the other wants to sleep. These were exactly the type of reading lamps I was hoping to find, and they exceeded my expectations.

I would really give 3.5 Stars but it's not an option.I wanted to LOVE this lamp and if I had, would have purchased at least one more. It is a great concept but with a poor quality implementation. I chose to keep it as for $104.95 including shipping, it was worth it to me to keep but not for the original purpose in my formal living room: It is in the den now. However, if I could find a better quality implementation of the same/similar design, I would buy that in a minute! The height adjustment with the horizontal manual rotation of the lamp head give the perfect set of options for anyone of any height trying to read sitting up, laying down or any position in between.++++++++ Pros +++++++++++++ Design is great, vertical adjustment is a great idea but not implemented well (it bows and does not line up as well as it should)+ having the cord come directly from the lighted piece rather than the floor piece allows it to sit flat on the floor (image does not indicate that the power cord is from the bottom of the adjustable top bar)+ Color of the finish is great (Quality is something else)---------------- Cons ------------------------- Finish quality is poor, a bit cheap looking in fact. This is not evident in the picture. It scratches easily from adjusting the vertical height.- poor quality sheet metal for the light housing head. The seems are uneven and that adds to the "cheap" feel of the lamp- base is cheap looking and with a different finish than what is on the rest of the lamp

I like to read and this is the perfect lamp. Just the right height, with directed light so I don't disturb those watching TV. The picture doesn't show the electric cord. It is only connected to the lamp post half way down. Then it's free to sway toward the outlet. Since the cord is black, it does show when beside a chair or lounge. Otherwise, it's a perfect accent to my living room. Easy to assemble. The head swivels around and you can tent the shade in any direction. No bulb included. Well worth the money.

Amazon advertised this lamp as having FREE RETURN SHIPPING. I received the order with a defective pull chain, Amazon granted a return but the label issued is to VirVentures and it requires me to pay the shipping which will be substantial. I would not have ordered it if the return shipping was not free for a defective product. I contacted VirVentures by phone 8 days ago and was told a case manager would return my call within 24-30 hrs. I did not get a call back. I did receive an email from VirVentures asking the same questions I answered on the Amazon return page and the phone. I have not heard back from VirVentures. I have emailed the VirVentures again and called (no answer). How do I get HELP from Amazon???The lamp is in the original packaging and sealed, ready for the label and to be applied so I can mail it back.
