Total surprise!!
I read a lot of reviews covering more bikes than I care to think about. I came across this PROGEAR 555LXT. During my search, I had not seen this item. In all my searching it had not been listed. It did not have more than 9 or 10 reviews, but what really stuck out was that all of them except 1 rated 5 Stars. That just doesn't happen very often. I was really impressed with the fact that a lady of ,I think 60, had purchased one and reported it only took her less than 30 -40 minutes to put together. The reason that impressed me was that nearly all the other bikes I reviewed had involved complaints of missing parts or parts that did fit together without force or rework. All of the other reviewers, except 1 spoke well of the fit and finish.I began looking for any exercise bike of any brand or price that was getting that rating and praise. Very few met the standard that this bike was getting. After receiving the shipment and removing the parts from a very well packaged product, I was even more impressed with the quality and care I was seeing. After a simple and straight forward assembly of the product and after 2 weeks of daily use, I am still of the opinion that it is the best made product that I have purchased in the last 20 of my 74 years. In use , it is very smooth, extremely quite, and a pleasure to use. The seat could be a tad bit more comfortable and I would like there to be an option for a heart rate monitor. All said, I am more than satisfied with the fit and finish and the smoothness of operation. To be one of the lessor priced units, I got more than I could have ever expected!Dave

Just turned 2500 miles
I'm 6', my wife is 5'1". For years I had a regular exercise bike that was rarely used because it was just boring and I felt uncomfortable no matter how adjusted. This recumbent position enables me to lean back and put more effort on my legs. The seat is fine for my wife, but I use a separate memory foam cushion on top of it. I usually pedal for two 40 minute sessions every other day. I can do this because the equipment is quiet, comfortable, and it is easy to watch tv from this position. Well made and a great price. Easy to assemble with included tools.Update 05/11/2024: Just passed 2500 mile mark. Mixing it up with treadmill and outdoor bike riding. Still nice and quiet and comfortable. Enjoyable to use while I watch tv/dvd/vhs especially now that I've replaced 24" tv with 40". As an aside, purchase of electric bike opened up a whole new area to bike riding now that I don't have to worry about killer hills on the way home. Riding Aventon Pace500 and do much of my riding with the electric assist off.

Oh Boy just 40 minutes left on the Recumbent Bike (review updated 2021)
I'm sorry but how could anyone give a 5-star review to an exercise machine? The bike was easy to assembly, but then I'm an old garage mechanic, so amateurs should allow 1+ hour. It works well, no noises, or structual problems. After reading way too many reviews of recumbent exercise bikes, and then leveling the field to a final 2 or 3, the big issue for my family is that there's a holder on the front post that will accomodate an iPad, tablet, Kindle, or whatever. If you've got to do this to yourself, my opinion is that this is one the best of the bunch for the money spent. 5 years later, it still works and has been used daily by two family members. Setting the tension adjustment on the seat is impossible without using a wrench otherwise the seat will work loose. Thankfully we can both use the same setting. I would still buy this one if I were shopping today,

Perfect indoor biking option
I’ve got 70 miles on the Odometer and so far so good. Easy to assemble, with a minimalist sleek design. Seat slide has foam to help prevent sliding as well as scratches in painted rail. Assembly took me 20 minutes roughly and was very straight forward and simple. One tip for tensioner is once knob and cord are attached set tension to 1 to tighten up the knob and make insertion into the post much easier.I’ve experienced none of the negatives I read in comments, pedals bolts came with thread tape, just tighten snuggly and they haven’t budged. The multimeter panel was simply clicking connectors together and works fine.As for use the tension doesn’t change a whole lot, but gives enough of a difference that you feel it after a few minutes (I’ve settled into 8 for balanced biking) the bike is very quiet bordering silent. Peddling is perfectly smooth and peddles themselves are deep enough for shoes socks or barefeet without pain or discomfort. The seat is comfortable and while I was worried the seat bottom would cause me to slide off the seat it actually feels great. I don’t slide at all no matter how reclined I sit and the drop away actually aids in peddling without hitting my thighs on the seat edge. All in all I honestly haven’t found any draw backs or Cons for this bike. I usually say for this price point it checks all the boxes, but this bike would check all the boxes for me for a bike at a higher price point. Everything you need for pain free exercise without needless and frankly pointless frills.

Everything I Hoped For
I am very, very pleased! It arrived quickly and already somewhat assembled. With the help of a mechanically-oriented friend, assembled the rest in less than an hour. It's compact, sturdy, sleek with electric blue accents, comfortable, and totally silent. I can hear the bird chirping while I ride. Seat adjusts easily. Helpful hint: during assembly, be sure to remove the black clip from inside the resistance knob after you've hooked up the cable. If you forget to do that, you won't be able to change the resistance. Once you remove it, it works great! Higher resistance levels get very hard, so lots to work towards. Fully assembled, it's light enough to slide around (on a mat) to face the window or TV as desired. I would buy it again! (I'm thinking of buying one for my parents.) Excellent quality and wonderful value.
