TL-33 Coupler Lock

Q: What is the diameter of the hole for the lock shackle?

The hole is 7/16" (not 1/2" like the other answer says). Would have been nice if the manufacturer had listed this in the description.

Q: Is the body aluminum? How secure can that be?

Blaylock Trailer (TL-33) Lock. The EZ Lock Model TL-33 Universal Coupler Lock is precision made of heavy grade aircraft aluminum and will not rust. It features a solid hardened 3/4" steel locking rod, for use with large heavy duty padlock (padlock not included). Fits all trigger style: Fulton, Shelby, Dutton-Lainson, Atwood, and similar. Fits latch style: Atwood, Fulton cast couplers and similar. Does not fit Hammeblow (Bulldog) couplers. Inside dimension of the channel is 4-3/4 inches with overall dimensions of 4-1/2" depth x 6-1/8" wide x 5-1/2" tall. A patented design ensures the most secure way to leave an unattended trailer.

Q: What if I only need a pin

Make one out of a grade 8 bolt the length you need to be able install a lock. Have a hole drilled in the end of the bolt slightly larger than the lock used

Q: Would a 5/8" locking hitch pin work with this security device?

Not sure why anyone would want to attempt that. I would suggest ordering it - then take the rod from it to a locksmith you trust and get a good padlock for it. If you want things Keyes the same so you don’t look like a high-school janitor - locksmiths can customize locks and match key gateway systems. If you get a cheap lock from a big box store - think through the “weakest link” theory and scrap the idea of buying this item.
