When Time Began: Book V of the Earth Chronicles (Earth Chronicles, 5)

Every book in the Earth Chronicles series is a delight to read. You may not agree with all of Sitchin's theories regarding Nibiru and the Anunnaki, but his chronology of ancient history and global events is spot-on, and his understanding of Sumerian mythology and language is impeccable. Regardless of the personal conclusions you arrive at after reading his work, I can certainly guarantee that you will also come away with a much greater sense of possibility for our ancient past, and the realization that there is much, much more to our history than we've ever been led to believe. In my opinion, it is the great work of researchers like Zecharia Sitchin and others that will ultimately bridge the gap between evolution and creationism, and finally reveal to us the long-hidden truths about our celestial origins.

I like the ancient past, lots of history.

There are three kinds of time: Divine, Celestial and Earth. Most of the megaliths around the globe were astronomical computers to determine months, days, or even periods of time thousands of years into the future. These ancient civilizations knew how to determine solar dates like the equinox or solstice, and even more complex time periods based on lunar calculations. Some computed all of these.The age of these megaliths can be determined by our knowledge of changes in the tilt of the earth, and it shows their construction dated back thousands of years B.C. These civilizations had unheard of knowledge of astronomy and mathematics - not to mention the actual construction of these megaliths out of rocks weighing in the tons, and with precision we cannot even match today.Similarities between these structures, including Stonehenge, and others built in the far reaches of the Earth in places like the mountains in Peru, indicate the same architect! How could that be possible unless we accept Sitchin's theories on how this advanced civilization of "gods" came here from Nibiru and gave us the information? If he's wrong, how could these different races on opposite ends of the Earth each have the skies divided into 12 arbitrary units, the Zodiac, and have practically the same symbols representing each?The coincidences seem to keep mounting. When Divine time is reconciled to Earth time using Nibiru's orbit around earth of 3,600 years to the number of Earth years in each house of the Zodiac of 2,160 years, you get 1.6666, the golden ratio - Fibonacci numbers. And there's more. Every chapter has something new.I know, don't tell me... Stonehenge was a burial ground. Yeah right. Just shut up and buy the book.

Sitchin was a remarkable historian and innovative thinker. I've always enjoyed his books. While this one went into great depth in explaining the ancient traditions and beliefs concerning Human Time, Divine Time, and Celestial Time, mostly with the Sumerians, I wish he delved more into findings surrounding Stonehenge. Early in the book, he postulates a influence of the Anunnaki with the megalith builders in Europe, but falls short of showing the existence of any literary tradition, of inscriptions and texts, like those found in Egypt and Mesopotamia. I finished WHEN TIME BEGAN with the question of whether or not the figure of Thoth/Ningishzidda was present among the inhabitants of Britain so as to direct and guide the construction of Stonehenge. This connection was showed in THE LOST REALMS with stories and legends of Quetzalcoatl in Central America, but there was no connection shown with a similar character found in European mythologies.

Very interesting study of the beginning of time and measuring of time. It causes you to think about it in a new way.

The basis of this volume is how time was created by the ancients through celestial observance.That lead to the intercalation of religious and/or political lunar and solar events into a usable calendar all based, eventually, on 365.25 days a year. The Hebrew Calendar is a perfect example.Precession of the equinoxes is also discussed in order to show that the ancients had only the stars to view and make sense of. This is used, presently, to determine what zodiacal age monuments were built in; such as the Sphinx of the Giza plateau.The ancients indeed created a calendar; the Sumerians seemed to be the originators.

Excellent recollection of information and filtering written down in an understandable way. The chapters are quite long but it's a way to connect the dots.
