Fantastic alternative to classic portable cribs!
This portable crib has been one of my greatest purchases I have made as a new mom! I was gifted a classic pack and play for my baby shower, however I decided to purchase this Journeybee for myself. I thought I might be more likely to use it as it seemed so simple and easy as compared to a full size portable crib. I was right. When folded, this portable crib is somewhat large yet slim! It easily slides in the trunk of my car or behind my couch for storage. It is also incredibly light. Carrying the Journeybee, my diaper bag, and my 15 lb baby all at the same time is totally doable. As far as the set up and break down; it couldn't be easier! Think: pop-up tent. When you take it out of the carry bag, there is a Velcro strap that keeps the crib together. When you undo the strap, the crib virtually sets itself up. The only thing the user must do is unfold the mattress (the mattress is folded in half. It is a hard backed, soft mattress that is made of a nylon type of material) and tuck it into a Velcro pocket on the bottom of the crib. The mattress does not go in the crib, thus the reason for the Journeybee specific sheet that velcros to the inside of the crib itself. The Journeybee is comparable in size to a traditional portable crib. It is a great, lightweight alternative to the bulky, heavy portable cribs of yesteryear. My son naps comfortably in his Journeybee, as well as enjoys playtime when mommy has to step out of the room for a minute.Overall: Great product! I tell my mommy friends it is a must have!

big and bulky
I ordered this travel crib to take on overseas trips. i wanted a light weight, easy to set up portable crib. When the box arrived, I was shocked at the size of the shipping box. Opening the crib, I was so disappointed in the actual size of the crib in the carrying bag. it's so big and bulky that i would never want to carry this bag around. It is so wide that you would knock into anyone near you…so traveling in Europe via train or metro would be impossible. I wouldn't even want to take this on a car trip.It is totally unfortunate, because the crib itself is really nice. Its so easy to set up, literally seconds, and it was sturdy and nice looking.I would consider buying this for my home play yard because it is so easy to set up, move,or take down.I returned this crib immediately and ordered the Lotus travel crib. While i liked the journey bee size and setup better, the Lotus is actually a travel size crib. it packs up into a much much smaller backpack, and is very easy to carry.

bought for travel
I bought this for traveling to and from our home and my mom's house. I received it today and popped it open immediately to check the size and comfort level. It opens like a pop tent and collapses just as easy...just read the directions. I want to take this with us to Hawaii next year when baby is about 11 months old but it is a little bigger than I wanted when it is collapsed. I am thinking it will just have to be a checked item because it is so big but this thing is the same siE as a pack and play but a lot cheaper and much lighter and portable. I would recommend this product over the other travel cribs I have seen. It's a quick set up and take down, cheap in price, and the quality is fairly decent, similar to a pack and play.

Doesn't sleep well in it...
This isn't the first travel crib we've tried; we had also purchased the BabyBjorn travel crib. But the mattresses just seem too thin and uncomfortable. In both models, our babies had/have trouble sleeping. The JourneyBee is very easy to open and close, and it is less expensive than the BabyBjorn by far. But I wouldn't use these except in case of a travel emergency.

ok for babies, not great for toddlers
This crib does have a big footprint. all set up, it takes up more floor space than a pack n play. But it is much lighter and easier to carry around than a pack n play. I liked it a lot when my son was 4 months to a year. Now that he is 18 months, it is not a good fit for him and we have gone back to using our pack n play. The sheet fits on top via velcro (which is also awful when washing as it sticks to itself and other clothes and is a pain) so when my son is laid down for a nap, he will pull at the edges and eventually pull up most of the sheet. He does this instead of just going to sleep like he does in other travel cribs that don't offer this piece of "excitement". I hate velcro and wish it were banned from all baby objects. It just trashes other items in the wash and is super noisy.

I love, love the journeybee!
After years of wresting with our pack n play to get it set up, it finally ripped for no good reason. I decided I couldn't bring myself to buy another and decided to try a different option for traveling with our youngest. I love, love the JourneyBee.The JourneyBee pops right open (I can do it one-handed) without having to pull on beams to get them to lock. Fold-up is a little more effort, but after a few disassemblies, it has become easy (it kind of folds in on itself). Despite simple set-up and take-down, the JourneyBee is a really sturdy and solid travel crib. Baby can play in it and pull-up on it and it maintains its shape. It is a lot shorter than the pack n play, but this is because it sits on the ground (a pack n play sits on wheels which make it taller). The JourneyBee folds up into a flat/easy to store half-circle shape. I find it more convenient to try to store/pack in the car than the awkward pack n play rectangle. So far, I'm loving the change!

Big & Heavy
This is no travel crib, it's pretty big and heavy. You definitely can't use it for air travel only car trips but then why not just bring a pack and play if you are going on a car trip?
