LumiSource LS-DISCO 6M Color Rotating Ball Disco Lamp

I bought this for my daughter's birthday as she loves to dance and in the past she made us hold flashlights and wave them around while she danced like some bizarro-world toddler rave. I decided to invest in an inexpensive alternative, and this light totally fit the bill.It's not awesome, it's not superb, but it does the job and the kids love it. It turns slowly and shines colored circles all over the room - not the brightest or most brilliant but it was enough to get all the kids in the room bouncing up and down like jumping beans and having a great time. It's made of flexible plastic so it doesn't feel like something that would shatter into a million pieces if it were dropped on the floor. I did have to keep it out of reach, however, as all the nerdlets wanted to do was grab it and carry it around with them. It has a nice length cord so they were able to get pretty far before I caught them.It makes a little bit of noise but frankly the sound of childrens' voices shrieking in joy drowned it out. It's not heavy but sits securely on its base. I think I might use an idea I read online and use it in the bathroom for disco bath time (not near the tub, of course, what kind of a mother do you take me for?!) along with a bubble machine and glow sticks. For the kids, of course. Yeah, the kids. Ahem.Anyway it's cheap, it does what it's supposed to do, and it should last a good while until one of the kids breaks it. Because you know they will.Update 06/18/2013: Okay, I was right about the plastic because I'm the one who dropped it and it didn't break. The bulb inside did, though, and so I had to buy a replacement. Note that the bulb in this lamp, the T7, has the candelabra base and NOT the intermediate base. You can find these at the hardware store for a lot cheaper than you can order them online due to shipping costs. Once I installed the new bulb (hold the base of the ball firm and twist to unscrew it) it works great again! Score 1 for lamp, 0 for Mom.

Our kids love this--they turn off all the lights and get the music started and then dance the night away! Well, at least until bedtime. It's fun-gives off good light and turns. The cord is a little annoying, since the kids love to put the disco ball lamp on the floor and then dance in a circle around it (we had one before this that went off batteries), so they have to watch out to not trip on it. But it's nice to not have to change any batteries!

I purchased this product after looking at everything out and based on its features and price. I figured if it did not meet my expectations then I was not out a whole bunch of money and could give it to my littlest daughter for her and her friends to have fun with. I bought this to provide some lighting fun in our bar area of our basement. The device rotates and lights up as described, but the brightness and crispness of the colored lights is not so good. It would get a higher rating if they were. If you are looking for inexpensive ok fun, then this product should be considered.

I like to DJ a lot of house and disco style music so this was actually a present to myself. The colors are bright but not blinding. I have yet to use it in a larger room, but so far it works fine in my bedroom. The motor is a very light humming noise which isnt very distracting, with music on you can't hear it at all. The only thing I wish it had was a speed adjustment of the moter, it spins a bit faster than I would prefer but for the price I understand this feature not being included. All-in-all I like to keep it turned on even when I'm DJing just for myself to create a fun atmosphere like I am playing out at an underground club.

My youngest son saw one of these in a store several months ago and was mesmerized. We bought him one for his fourth birthday and he's as pleased as punch by it. He often greets guests by inviting them into his room, shutting off the overhead lights, and turning on the disco ball. He sometimes plays just to its light. Other Amazon reviewers have complained that this light is too dim, but it's fine in his little room. No complaints.A tip -- the bulb in ours burned out after about six months. From the other reviews here, I get the impression that this is common. The proper replacement bulb is a 15 watt "T7" bulb with a candelabra base. Several versions seem to be available on Amazon (Westinghouse Lighting Corp #03720-54 Tv 15w Clr Cand Bulb, for example, may be a good fit).

We purchased this as a gift for our daughter for Christmas. When we turned it on, the light bulb that came with it immediately popped and blew out. We tried another (the size they recommend) and that also popped and blew out immediately. There are warnings on it about it going on fire if you use the wrong lightbulb, which is scary in itself, but even the lightbulb they gave us didn't work. I would not recommend this. It did not meet our expectations.

I bought this for my grandson's birthday, and very glad I ordered it early enough for me to "fix" before giving it to him. It never did light up - the bulb didn't work from the get-go. There is no listing, or information of any kind included, stating what bulb wattage is recommended. I am going to take the bulb to the store with me to try to find another the exact size, and hope it works!! If not, I'll be writing another recommendation, with a lower rating!!!

I bought this for a school disco party. It is great for disco parties in medium sized rooms (holding 100 people or less). It's not so big, easy to store, portable, and works very well. Just add fun music, turn the lights off and you will have an amazing disco party.
