Could these 1.5volt Lithium batteries replace NiMH sets
Battery testingI have tested a set of 4 Lithium batteries AA 1.5volt rated at 3A made by EBLplease read to the end to see my recommendations and what I think of the charger.Test set up;Zoom H8 using 1 channel record and phantom power the Synco D2 while recording with it’s own XY stereo mic capsule. No other channels had phantom power turned on and the screen stayed on during the whole test although dimmed. This replicates my most common theatre recording set up and often once set to record I have no access to the Zoom/mic until the show is over when the theatre empties.Testing;I left the Zoom and mic combination to record continuous until the battery meter dropped or I just got board.Started the test at 10:30am and at regular intervals checked the Zoom was still recording and displaying the level readings, also would check the body to see if there was any heat produced. After more than 2 hours of continuous use I checked the actual battery temperature by touch and they where luke warm but on removal it may have been the Zoom H8 that produced the heat as the batteries felt barley warm. It’s now 4 hours and still the meter gauge is showing full charge, as these are lithium batteries, what is most likely to happen is once the meter drops then the batteries will run out of charge very quickly, unlike other battery chemistries which have a steadily declining voltage, lithium holds it’s voltage until they reach the last 5% of charge then there is a rapid decline in voltage.I am stopping the test as it has become pointless and I have grown impatient as it is very clear that these batteries will out perform any NiMH battery of similar capacity, after turning the recorder of which exceeded 4 hours recording, I then re powered the H6 and it still shows a full charge, in reality I suspect the batteries would have run out of charge just before or close to 5 hours total recording. It’s important to mention that firstly the phantom power is the biggest drain on power for any portable recorder as the voltage is stepped up to 48volts which increases the current draw at low voltage (6volt), and I only tested 1 channel on phantom power, the H8 has 6 channels that can be phantom powered so with more channels used will shorten the time it takes to exhaust the batteries, that said, I have never come any where close to these times with even the more expensive branded NiMH batteries.About the charger, while it is very compact and simple in design, it would have been nice to have sum indication of the state of charge rather than just a red or green status LED, and why stick with the micro USB, surely it makes more sense to move over to USB C as these have higher current capabilities and can be plugged in either way round taking the guess work out of weather you are plugging the micro USB in correctly, that said the package is well priced for what you get.Long Term;In my experience although I have noticed capacity lowering on NiMH after a couple of years of regular use, lithium based batteries seem to outpace these, but they will lose capacity over time but may take a lot longer so this makes them a good alternative.

Excellent batteries BUT see my UPDATE !
Bought this set of EBL 8 x lithium AAs with the special charger plus an Anker 2.4 amp USB charger .Put the batteries on charge and the first thing that happened was 1 battery showed as faulty by continuously flashing RED as other reviews have remarked about .So I lashed out and bought a set of 4 with the charger and another Anker 2.4 amp USB charger and started charging them and low and behold 1 battery continuously flashed RED again !Why oh why is there always 1 faulty battery include in each set ?As these lithium batteries are so expensive why is the Final Inspection NON EXISTANT ?Do EBL really believe that we will really just buy another set of batteries because there is ALWAYS ONE FAULTY BATTERY PER SET of batteries ?I was forced to buy another set because I needed 2 x sets of 4 batteries . I now have 10 working batteries out of 12 .UPDATE - AFTER 12 HOURS OF CHARGING ONLY 3 OUT OF 12 BATTERIES HAVE CHARGED ! !I have always sworn by EBL rechargeable batteries NOW I just swear about them !I WIILL NEVER TRUST EBL AGAIN .UPDATE VERY IMPORTANT !The Seller contacted me via email and offered to send me free of charge a new set of 8 batteries and charger without me having to send my set back !On trying to charge the new batteries with the new charger after12 hours charging not one of the batteries charged up .I emailed The Seller and they suggested I charged them using a 5V 2Amp usb and guess what all the new batteries charged within 2 hours ! !BRILLIANT CUSTOMER SERVICE - MANY THANKS LINDA .I retrust EBL and their Customer Service .

Great if you need full power until they stop
Got a pack of 8 at Christmas '24. I put two in my childs electric toothbrush and 4 in a RC car.The car works great and fast, we haven't played with it enough to drain the batteries, this is more on us not playing with it much. The toothbrush however is why I've been waiting to write a review. It's been 3 months, he's brushed his teeth every day twice a day for two mins each time and it's still going full blast. Previously used enloop ni-mh batteries and found after 1 or 2 months it was noticeably slower. These are expensive batteries but worth it if you need this specific type of discharge curve where you get full voltage until they stop, an electric toothbrush is a good example where you don't want it slowing gradually while they discharge. However if the performance doesn't decline over time like a wireless mouse or TV remote then stick to ni-mh as they are much cheaper. As others have said since they don't drop voltage like an alkaline battery, your device won't give an accurate read out of how much power they have left, showing 100% until they go quite quickly when they finally get near the end of their charge.Only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is because it uses a usb mini b connector and not usb c.

They hold full charge
These batteries being Lithium hold a full charge if not used and you also get a constant 1.5v until they run out. They are expensive but you get what you pay for and if you need a constant 1.5v Lithium is the way to go. They say the charger will only charge their own batteries and you have to buy a 5v 2a usb plug to be able to use it, which I think is a bit of a con considering the price. (We have mains sockets with usb output but it is mostly 5v 3a (too high) and most charging plugs are only 5v 1a (too low) I also bought another make of Lithium 1.5v batteries and after near on 24 hours on this charger they are still dead, so it seems the charger will only charge there own batteries
