don't need to look any further
Coffee roaster here and I needed an air pot that would keep my coffee hot for tastings. I have purchased numerous other pots and they just cannot accommodate what I needed. Either the plunger failed, or they couldn't maintain the temperature I needed. As I only offer tastings for coffee I needed one that would hold one pot of coffee hot for hours (this holds 2 1/2 pots of coffee). I now need to remind my customers that coffee is hot when they taste it 10 hours after brewing. Yes, 1/2 the Zojirushi is full and the coffee remains hot after 10 hours. They clean well and I do not have to struggle with getting the lid separated from the air pot as it slips right off. I would and will continue to purchase the Zojirushi (yes, it looks almost identical to the Bunn, but this one does a better job and the mechanics work better)

Excellent Product
I was having a party and needed to serve regular and decaf coffee. I had a lot to do the day of the party and didn't want to be bothered making coffee at the last minute, so I wanted to buy two thermal carafes and make the coffee ahead of time.I did a lot of research and found this one, as well as the Bunn 3.0 Liter Lever Action Airpot. Since I needed two pots, I decided to buy them both and then I could compare the two products. I have to say that both carafes are excellent and I highly recommend both of them.About a week before the party, I did a temperature test with both carafes. I filled them each with 193-degree water from my coffee maker. After one hour, they both dropped 2-3 degrees; after two hours they both dropped 1-2 degrees more; I had to leave for a while, so my next temperature check was 10 hours from the start of my testing. At that point, the Zojirushi was at 176 degrees and the Bunn was at 174 degrees. Both were still extremely hot! The next day I took another reading. This was 12 hours later (22 hours from the start of my testing). At this point, the Zojirushi was at 158 degrees and the Bunn was at 152 degrees -- still hot enough to drink after 22 hours!Of course, in actual use, the level of coffee will go down as people drink it, and hot coffee will be replaced by room-temperature air, which will cool the coffee down sooner than in my test. However, when we had the party, the coffee was very hot throughout the evening, and I even had a cup the next morning. Although it was probably not as hot as in my test, it was still drinkable. There are some differences in these two pots, but none of these differences affect the ability to maintain the temperature of the liquids:- The Zojirushi has a glass liner; the Bunn is stainless steel.- The Zojirushi has a push button; the Bunn has a lever.- The Zojirushi has a rotating base; the Bunn has a stationary base.I can't say that any of these differences really matter to me. My main concern was keeping the coffee hot, and both products exceeded my expectations.

rugged, big, good value, leaves some at the bottom
This is a rugged product, I use it 3-4 times a week to bring coffee to work, and I'm happy overall with it. Wife got this as a gift for me and I was thrilled.the good: low-profile pump as opposed to lever that flips up (personal preference, NOT functionality issue), wide base/shorter height as opposed to skinny base/taller height (again- personal preference, NOT functionality issue), gets used regularly but has not failed/broken, I usually fill unit halfway and coffee stays steaming hot (~70 degrees office environment) for about 8 hours, which is more than acceptable. Very easy to rinse and clean out. Swish around top part in soapy water, use the plunger to help wash out the inerts, rinse. Maybe once/month. BIG- I don't have many opportunities to share my coffee, but when I do, I got black gold for all and enough for myself. This is a slightly larger model than the rest of Zojirushi's lineup as well as what you might see at snack shops.the bad: the siphon tube that draws the coffee is about 1cm too short and leaves liquid at the bottom. This is either a design flaw, defect in this tube only, or an intentional design to leave liquid at the bottom. Maybe to prevent drying out/crusting/molding?? Going out on a limb, here. When rinsing out unit, water seems to find its way /underneath/ the outside metal wrap. Very bizarre. When rinsing out, unit must be tipped upside-down and the water has to be 'played' out, drained, whatever, through mysterious breaks in seal around top edge of black plastic and metal. When I contacted Zojirushi, they said warranty does not cover non-electrical products. WTS?the suspect: I've read other reviews claiming the liquid stays hot for a curiously much longer timeframe than advertised and what I experienced personally after years of use. I will say this- I fill my pot w/ the hottest water from tap, empty, then fill w/ coffee. Coffee stays hot a tiny bit longer- enough to justify doing such a ridiculous thing, but the coffee will NOT stay steaming hot if I'm dispensing and less than 1/3 pot left. The less coffee in the pot, the cooler it will get quicker. Folks that say liquid stays hot for 24 hours or 2 days... they must not be dispensing much. That is what I have experienced, anyway. I have never seen this product used anywhere. I usually see the taller skinnier models/brands. Do I drink too much coffee?the jist: good value, good product, if you don't mind a small amount of liquid at the bottom.
