A good buy for an American Standard Version Bible
I have an old ASV which was my Sunday School Bible, and wanted a second ASV copy to keep from wearing that one out. I've re-discovered the American Standard Version, and really enjoy using it for study and general reading. I got this Benediction Classics copy through Amazon over a week ago, it was a used one in new condition (looks like it's barely been cracked open), and my first impression is that it is easy to read (decent size type), and it is a large, heavy paperback (about 7 3/8" X 9 1/2"; 2" thick) -- it's similar to a paperback college textbook, actually.Another reviewer thought this ASV is a bit 'flimsy', but overall the book is fairly stolid. Perhaps she was referring to the cover, which could probably rip if misused, but it's no different than most paperback college textbooks. The book's stock paper is good quality, and the cover is similar to what one would get in a paperback college textbook -- you wouldn't want to toss this Bible around as you might a hardcover book, but if it's used with care the cover should last OK. As for the formatting, it's simple but effective. There aren't any notes or references, or even the 1901 preface, but it's word for word ASV and a decent price for what you get. The Benediction Classics ASV places words in brackets that the older ASV's place in italics. For those who are into marking up their Bibles, the paper seems thick enough that one could probably use a highlighter -- like I said, it's similar to a college textbook -- printed on non-glossy, fairly thick paper. For those who aren't aware of the American Standard Version, it was the American revision of the King James Version released in 1901, and was used in seminaries in the U.S. for many years after that, and apparently is highly accurate in the New Testament especially. It reads a lot like the KJV with some changes that seem to have been adopted later by the NASB. The biggest peculiarity is the use of the name "Jehovah" in Old Testament passages, as the name for God.I give it five stars because it's basically what I wanted: a second ASV with larger type that I can use without worrying about damaging a family Bible, and it was a decent price. Considering that it's sort of hard to find ASV's this Benediction Classics version is a good deal.

True Word of God
I love the King James Bible. It is easy to read and is in every way just like the soft back that you physically hold. It’s also nice when reedin you can look up words on your Kindal too

American Standard Version Reprint
This is an excellent reprint of the highly regarded ASV of 1901, and great value for money. The edition is surprisingly large, being more of a 'study Bible size' than the handheld sort of size, and as a paperback it is more friendly and easy to handle than your typical study Bible-sized item. The print is excellent, making this Bible much more accessible than some of the more cumbersome type-face of other recent (and rare)reprints.I did find one typographical error in Romans 3:21, where 'being witnessed by the law and the prophets' is accidently duplicated, but hey, just make that a note for the publisher in the future. All in all, this is an excellent reprint of an excellent version, and I'm very pleased with it.So, if you're looking for a highly accurate translation of the Scriptures, I highly recommend the ASV 1901 as a Bible version for your consideration, and this worthy edition.L Travers

Entirely plagiarised.
I’m used to the King James Version. This version has American grammar, which includes the removal of various U’s. Now instead of Mouses and the Ten Commandments, it’s about a chap called Moses. Incredibly unoriginal.

It's OK
It wold be better for reading if you could turn of the notes and the references in the verse. Also if you are reading the Bible from front to back each chapter had a lot of referenced that link to other books. It would be nice to have a way to just read the books without having to get to the end of a chapter going to "Go to" and selecting the next chapter to start reading instead of being able to just start the next book.

Great for an ereader or phone.
Bought this for my Paperwhite. Take it to church with me every Sunday. It is great for reading at home since I can change the size of the font. It is a little difficult getting to the book I want to read but other than that it is fine. Like that I can highlight, make notes, and bookmark.
