Strong and light!
If you're looking for a light-weight multi-tool, look no further. For starters, the SOG PPP has the best plier head. With it's compound leverage gears, it not only opens buttery-smooth, it cuts through pennies with a slight squeeze with no discomfort. I tried cutting a penny with a leatherman Kick, similar in size and weight. It not only could Not cut the penny, as I cranked down on the over-molded handles, the plier heads twisted AROUND it. Yes the tools don't lock, but are adequate for normal use. If you need a heavy-duty tool, check out the Power-Lock or the Power-Assist (Awesome). FYI, if you're thinking about switching out components, you can only have one long tool, (like a knife blade) per side because of the way the pliers fold in. The combo-blade is chisel-ground, the bevel is only on one side. I re-profiled the flat edge to a more traditional double bevel. You can always order a straight blade from SOG. For something so small it feels incredibly durable. You won't be disappointed.

It's cut force is excellent, I tested vs my gerber and leather man
I have used soooo many all in ones. I own a Christmas light business and this is our primary type of tool. This year I tried the sog multi tool and here's some items of note: 1 this will pinch the palm of your hand leaving a nasty blister so always hold far back on the handles.... 2. It's cut force is excellent, I tested vs my gerber and leather man, this was many x better. Not a fan of the case and lack of carabeaner clip. I need a carabeaner as we are on roofs and I don't want it to fall, I also just love snapping it on, the case is ok

Great little tool!
This is a great medium duty multi tool. It has everything you need and nothing you don't. If by chance you want to customize it to fit your needs better, all you have to do is purchase the tool (ie. scissors etc) from SOG and swipe it out.The only downfall is the handle and the gears. Like others have said, when gripping tight they do tend to dig into your hand. Also the gears will dig into your hands as well. But despite these issues you'll be hard to find a lighter multi tool that has all the functions of this. I own several leathermans including the Wave, which I love. But it's so heavy that end up not wearing it. The Pocket Powerplier is light and virtually unnoticeable when carying it in your pocket or on your belt. It all boils down to what you want I guess. Personally I love this tool and never leave home without it on me.

No lifetime warranty on knife blades or bits
SOG is supposed to be a premium quality tool with a lifetime warranty - certainly a premium price. But the knife blades & bits are not covered. $7.75 for a new phillips bit, plus $6 shipping. Mine broke under normal use conditions. I would actually call it subnormal, as you can see from the picture. I thought I might as well order 2 since they break so easily, but then I'm $21.50 that I'd rather put toward a Leatherman or Gerber who do stand by their product.Update 12/15/16:After several emails with SOG support I wore them down and they sent me a new Phillips bit. So it appears that if you pitch a fit, your SOG does indeed stand behind their products like Gerber or Leatherman, which begs the question - why don't they just stand behind their product in the first place?

Quality of SOG vs Leatherman
Bought this for my guy friend this Christmas as a replacement for his Leatherman PST II. He's very happy with this S44. i also ordered him the Leatherman Sidekick but he said that the SOG is what he wants. It has the tools that he uses - not the dumb scissors! The S44 is easy for me to pull out and use. The tools are very well made. Compared to the Leatherman Sidekick - well there isn't a comparison. They put plastic in the new Sidekick and he doesn't like it. So we're sending it back and he'll keep the SOG S44. The only thing we'll need is a leather case. The SOG came with a nice nylon case but he prefers leather. Thanks for all of the reviews! i learned more about multi-tools than i ever thought i would by purchasing a new multi-tool for a Christmas gift. i only wanted the BEST for my guy. (He's the best!)

No complaints at all. If 007 carried a multi-tool it be this one.
Feels sturdy and well built. Bought it to replace a broken 25-year-old Leatherman. It feels like this is old faithful's twin. Very pleased so far. No real insights about using it to gut deer, disarm a nuke, or save humankind from the zombie apocalypse. Just regular stuff like the pliers grip stuff tightly, the screwdrivers bite into screw heads appropriately, the files worked on wood metal and my torn fingernail, and the can opener opened a can of spinach just like an old school can opener should have. Oh, I almost forgot, the knife blade made short work of getting a Fiji apple cut into toddler appropriate pieces.

The BEST pocket-able multi tool available anywhere !
The BEST pocket-able multi tool available anywhere ! .. and I have them all. This one is slim / lightweight and has all the right tools. This isn't some massive "supertool" toolbox that "is never there" because it's so damn heavy/bulky. (what were they thinking? - does anyone ever really use the lame sizzors attached to those "supertool" Boat anchors ? I didn't think so. Was the tool left at home/unavailable when you needed it?I thought so

Super pince
Pince très bien fini et très fonctionnelle. Semble solide et on peut racheter les différents outils à la pièce en cas d'usure (sur le site de Sog aux USA). Sog est une marque réputée.

Maybe not the perfect UK EDC multi-tool but damn close.
First off, the (very nearly) unique selling point for a premium-brand adult-size multi-tool is it's a 'UK street legal' from a well-known manufacturer, the first I have discovered since the demise of the original Leatherman Pocket Super Tool.At four inches/100mm stowed it is genuinely pocket-sized but I can't recommend carrying it that way because the 'power' part relies on gears that stickl out a little too much for comfort: apart from biting the hand that delves for it I suspect sooner or later the S44 would work it's way through routine pocket-linings, which is probably why it is supplied with a belt pouch. (While practical it's both unnecessarily bulky and I suspect the plastic belt clip won't stand up to daily abuse so I've popped it into the old leather pouch that came with my long-lost and much-missed original Leatherman PST.) While the rest of the tool is excellent what really distinguishes it is the pliers, which are:[1] Genuinely NEEDLE-NOSED. The tips are factory ground to present an (estimated) forty-five degree angle when closed, which translates into easier access in confined spaces, superior grip at odd angles and being a lot better at digging into soft materials.[2] The pliers are CANTED AT A SHALLOW ANGLE. This looks odd at first glance but as soon as you use them for routine tasks the benefit of the offset is immediately apparent: it allows closer working, either for gripping, turning and twisting and side-cutting.[3] The gears provide a twofold mechanical advantage that translates into twice the 'crunch' for the same effort. (Compared to routine multi-tools of the PST kind the S44 is a lot less uncomfortable to use without gloves or padding.(This problem is generally addressed by inverting the design, meaning the tools can be deployed without opening the tool but in the process necessitating locked blades, raising complexity and cost.)All of this means the S44 is big enough to tackle most 'civilian' jobs in an urban environment and the design makes it a supremely practical 'Every Day Carry' rather than being consigned to the toolbox or kitchen drawer. So, what's not to like? In my opinion very little: it's not big, it's not expensive and it doesn't come in matt black but it is compact, handy, and really rather clever.Having sampled a few multi-tools from different manufacturers I can honestly say it's the only pliers-type tool currently available in the UK that is both street legal and useful as a 91mm Farmer or Climber SAK... both of which I still routinely carry (depending on if I need a saw more than a pair of man-sized scissors, toothpick, tweezers) because there is literally no competition. While there is no point having two of everything just for the sake of it the various 'common' tools are generally better suited to any specific task except when you need two, such as when levering/prising/unscrewing Chicago bolts.Long to short unless you are in an extreme environment (mountains, swamps, deserts, a security cordon, out clubbing, on the way to a match) with an S44 on your belt and a reasonably capable folding knife in your pocket you will be equipped for ninety-eight percent of the boring everyday jobs that come up while not climbing mountains, wading swamps, trekking deserts, fending off polar bears, sharks, crocodiles, zombies or reading highly entertaining but unaffordable survivalist wish-lists....

Excellent option for the UK - especially if you need to snip thick metal wire from time to time.
Solid, functional, a little rough around the edges. There are Leatherman tools of a similar size that are better "finished", and that have tools which open to the outside of the handles. They don't have the 2x action on the wire cutters though. The combination of 2x force multiplication for the wire cutters and a non locking blade (UK laws) make this a very effective tool for everyday carry and everyday use.Excellent customer service from MedClub - delivered well within timescales from the US, they also resolved an issue I had with the order very quickly.
