Growing as advertised
I have successfully used lemon grass bug repellent before. When I saw these touted in an article to ward off mosquitoes, I perked up and thought I’d try it. I ordered them on April 28 stalks arrived in about 3-4 days from CA and were well packaged. I live in the DFW area of Texas. I must have missed the instructions but, luckily, another reviewer repeated them in her review. At first, I stuck them in a couple of glasses of water, but a week later nothing much was happening, which is when I found the other reviewer’s instructions. I, then, trimmed the base of the stalks and started refreshing the water but not every day—every 3 days. It is now May 17 and the stalks have roots and have new shoots on top (see pics). Now, I just need to plant them. So far so good!

Excellent product, but didn’t receive the Tom Yum paste
I have had a difficult time finding fresh lemongrass locally. I decided to order this product, although the reviews were mixed. I figured if I even got two stalks that I could plant, I’d be happy because they multiply so quickly. Well, I received eight perfect stalks! For those who don’t know, you need to cut a bit off of the bottom of the stalk and peel off the outer leaves to expose a fresh part of the stalk that will easily root. I will probably stick them in dirt before they even root because I’ve always had good luck with that method, but for now, this beautiful lemongrass is sitting in my kitchen in about an inch of water. I recommend this supplier!

Lemongrass stalks for the win!
The media could not be loaded. I got these to root and grow because all the local places are sold out of lemongrass. The upper part of the stalks came with the bottoms as well. Packaged nicely and several stalks are already showing roots. I recommend this seller and product!***every stalk rooted quickly!Thank you for the awesome lemongrass and swift delivery! I highly recommend!****Update*****I looked away for a few days longer than I should have and thought for sure I let them dry out.... surprise! They all had rooted beautiful and hadn't dried out. New shoots even and the older ones got so long! Thank you so much for some most excellent lemongrass!

It really grows!!
This lemon grass was delivered either the 7th. or 8th. of October. I immediatelt trimmed the bottoms of the plant and removed any brown leaves. As per instructions, I put the stalks in three glass jars with 2" of water and put them in a very sunny spot. I was NOT very good about changing the water in the jars every day as suggested; perhaps every three days. The first stalk sprouted roots within ten days and the rest followed at their own irregular pace. Today, the 31st. of October, I planted the last stalk to sprout roots. So in 20 or 21 days ten of the ten stalks I purchased are viable and thriving and instead of going in an Asian stew will become a hedge in a sunny but sheltered place in my yard.Thank you . I am truly impressed.

It looks rough and doesn't smell great upon arrival
I've seen some of the negative reviews and I have some suggestions/advice. First, know what you are buying, this lemongrass is not meant to be consumed upon receipt, it's meant to be propagated. It looks rough and doesn't smell great upon arrival, but that is normal. I put it into a vase of water and changed the water daily. I live in MN, so I planted in pots outside for the summer and brought it in this fall and some in a vase in the kitchen because it looks cool. These 8 stalks are now 2 huge bushes and a large vase arrangement. Considering I can't get lemongrass in this area and LOVE coconut soup among other lemony things, I thought this was a great deal!

Just ehh..
I needed the lemongrass for a recipe..and when I got it, it did not look like the picture..it was all brown and gross looking. I cut off the gross parts and used what I could and the recipe turned out okay. But I would not purchase again.

healthy, hardy plants
I bought these to plant in pots on my patio to keep the mosquitoes away. I had to soak in water for a few weeks in order for roots to sprout so I could plant. I have only had them out a couple weeks and they continue to grow. I am hoping that they will be a natural repellant when we are outside this summer.I wanted to give an update: As of 5/1/20, I still have this grass in pots on my patio and it does amazing for keeping the mosquitos away! It also looks beautiful. I am so happy I found this natural way to keep the pests away, and to add beauty to my yard.
