Short and venomous!Well written and deeply educational.Some real jewels are dropped in this booklet.I wish it went deeper!

This book has shed light on the history of the original inhabitants of the Caribbean. It also gives great information on qhat led to Columbus and other Europeans sailing to the America's. More people need to know about the true history of the Caribbean.

Nice quality soft cover but could use more photos on the inside.

Great book full of knowledge

The book is well written, and provides enough notes to go on for further reading and historical discovery but one should most definitely not feel as if they have been thoroughly educated on the history of the Arawak or the entire people of the New World that the Europeans -- the Spanish in particular -- committed a great atrocity towards. I would suggest for anyone new to seeking a deep study in earnest of this beginning of the chapter in history which began European exploitation of such a vulnerable people, take notes of things not mentioned in the traditional story telling of history (ie -- in western education systems, American in particular). It does go into a few esoteric facts about this section of history, and is definitely a good spring board to follow further into a better and deeper understanding.I give the 3 stars only because the title suggests a deeper and more thorough, encyclopedic-like account, but the book is far from that. It does mention other, more notable scholars, and does not hide the facts and notions about pre-European contact with the western hemisphere by those of African and Asian people, centuries -- and millennia before. It also does not attempt to romanticize or paint the Europeans in a noble light, as traditional Western education does, regarding the initial contact, reasons for, and behavior afterwards of settling and colonization of these lands and of course people.

History at it's finest.I love history and Charles River Editors make it so easy to keep you informed! As I have aged I find that I have forgotten many things and this is a quick way to refresh my knowledge. Thank you, guys! History at it's finest.

arawak history is important for all caribbean peoples

Very interesting read and a history I was unaware of.

This is limited in factual history and pages for that matter.

Poor standard of a book. And poor portrayal of us Native Americas. Very patronising, actually.....
