I really wanted to like this one..
I wanted to like this book. I really, really did. And maybe it's because I haven't read COS yet, but I was just lost throughout the entire book. But that's not even my main problem; the problem was the supposed romance between Titan and Emilee. Some background:So Titan has always wanted Emilee, but she was in a relationship with his best friend Bone, so he acted like he couldn't stand her but really he's been in love with her for years. Emilee had something tragic happened to her and she left town, only to come back a broken shell of the woman she was. Now that she's back, Titan can't help but have the overpowering need to possess and own her (which borders on creepy for me, but to each their own) but be does agree to help Emilee with her situation.Okay, now that's all out of the way, here is what didn't work for me:-Titan and Emilee was more lust than love. There was no emotional connection, no pull between them, it was all sex.-It felt like this book was pushing to be an MFM menage, but then pulled back at the last minute. Emilee would go and eff Titan, but then kiss Bone. But when she was with Bone, she would fantasize about Titan. Girl couldn't function unless some D was involved.- And the absolute thing that I couldn't get past? It felt it was more Bones book than it was Titan's, and Titan is the freaking main character! He was just completely overshadowed in the suspense and his relationship.. Bone and Emilee had an insane amount of chemistry AND emotional connection, whereas Emilee and Titan just felt forced.- PLUS Bone KNEW how Titan felt about Emilee when he was boning her all those years ago, and just didn't care. It just all annoyed me.Even the epilogue is from Bones POV! I felt like Shantel has a major lady boner for Bones (ha!😂) but this was just a hot mess. I was actually rooting for Bone and Emilee, and now I have no desire to read about who he ends up with.Obviously this was a huge miss for me, but I'm sure others will enjoy it.**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions.**

Loved Titan
Just WOW Shantel Tessier gives us a book that will leave you with a book hangover for days. Titan is a book that will take you on an incredible ride from the minute you read the prologue. What is the meaning of being A Dark King, power, prestige and knowing you are on top of the world.Titan is a man, along with Bones, Cross & Grave who basically run most of Vegas but when a face from the past comes to them for help he can’t help knowing that she will change everything he knows.Emilee Clark is a woman whose life has been turned upside down in a matter of months and when she comes home to get the answers she needs she never expects to need the help of The Dark Kings even if it means going back to the past to make her future right. Not only will Titan & Emily have to confront many issues along the way, but you can’t help get caught up in their story and hope that they both find what they are looking for A King just looking for his Queen.

Titan (The Dark Kings) - Shantel Tessier
Titan is the first book in the highly anticipated Dark Kings series by Shantel Tessier and this series has got off to a bang! You got a brief introduction to ‘The Kings’ in Code of Silence, as they are friends with Luca and Haven and now comes the four book series, though these can be read as standalone’s.Titan is the ‘King’ that runs the ‘Queens’ - the exclusive secret escort service and he definitely doesn’t suffer fools gladly, he’s intense and makes no apologies for who and what he is!Emilee is best friends with Haven (from Code of Silence) and someone who the Kings were at school with and she’s back in Vegas after finding out her father has died suddenly. Already heartbroken, things only get worse for Emilee and her and Titan’s complicated past only adds to her confused state of mind. It’s a dark, suspense and hot as hell ride, with lots of twists and turns - just when you think you have it figured out Shantel throws you another curveball, this is going to be one h€ll of a series, ‘Grave’ book 2 can’t come soon enough!Shantel you did it again! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Liked the chemistry but a lot of plot points that needed more depth.
Titan is the first to fall out of the four Dark Kings. These characters initially appear in Code of Silence, which is Luca and Haven's story -and whilst this series is considered a standalone, I would highly recommend reading that book first in order to get a better idea of what's going on.Similar to COS, the first time I read this I was all for it and liked it more than I did this second time around unfortunately. I really wanted to like this book more as I was a big fan of the Dark Kings in COS and I felt like there was a lot that could have been explored in their books.Emilee has moved on from college and is living her life in Chicago, until she gets a call that her father has passed away. Returning to Sin City is a big move for her, especially when she comes back to find out her father's business partner is in control of everything her father owned. Finding herself in a tight spot, she turns to the Dark Kings for help, hoping that her previous connection to them will give her some leeway.Titan and his business partner's are well aware of who Emilee is, especially given she used to 'date' his best friend Bones whilst they were all in college. Although he's wanted her since they were both young, he constantly gives her the impression that he hates her and isn't willing to help her out of her bind, unless she offers something in return. Thus leading to Emilee becoming a Queen and working for him.My main issue with this book is that there were so many side plots that could've been explored and yet weren't. Instead this felt very surface level and consisted mostly of Emilee going back and forth between people trying to find someway to make money. Whilst I was a fan of the s*x**l chemistry between her and Titan, I didn't ever feel like it went deeper than just s*xu*l attraction for either of them. I also never understood why Titan, although he admits to loving Emilee since the '3rd grade', appears to hate her and think she's stuck up throughout college. Although she doesn't seem like the easiest person to get along with and a bit of a loner, I didn't feel like any of the flashbacks highlighted her being particularly snobbish.Similar to COS, I felt like this had a good underlying storyline, but it just wasn't executed as well as it could have been and the situation with Emilee's father at the end seemed a little reused. I did like the consensual s*xu*l encounters in this book as they were quite steamy, especially some of the exhibition*sm/sh*ring scenes. However, I wish Emilee hadn't kept flitting between Titan and Bones, especially when there was so much emphasis on her understanding that what her and Bones had when they were younger wasn't love... I get that she had a deeper connection with him then but her present feelings kept seeming to fluctuate up and down regarding the situation and there was no real explanation for it.I rated this 3 stars, which I am a bit disappointed about as I expected more from this story. I'm hoping the rest of the Kings and Nite's stories have more background to them, as I think this did have some plot holes that needed to be filled. I hope Nite doesn't end up with Jasmine though as I don't really like her character -there are hints of her having deeper background issues but I couldn't really move past the fact that she willingly slept with a married man and none of them seemed all that bothered by it. Also, I'm team Mia and Nite so I know I won't enjoy Nite's book if he doesn't end up with her!TW: Physical abuse/Torture with some explicit details.Titan is book 1 in the Dark Kings series.

Great read!
What a twisted world these characters live in...thank goodness! Twisted worlds filled with difficult situations, dilemmas, jeopardy, hot men...perfect. Titan is the first of the Dark Kings to get their book with Emilee the heroine whose life has been turned upside down by awful events. It has been great to start learning about these 4 men, their pasts, their motivations and their passions. They are ruthless towards their enemies, so don't get on the wrong side of these guys!I have thoroughly enjoyed every twist and turn of this story. It is a fan-worthy read 😊🔥 which kept me glued to the page. A great HEA and onto Grave...rubs hands 💖💖💖💖

Loved it!!
I’m officially in love with the Kings. I wasn’t expecting to love this book at first as I was hoping for Bones and Emilee to be together after COS but Titan and Emilee make so much more sense together! The story grips you throughout and you learn more about each king as you go along which makes you anticipate their own story. I can’t wait to read all their books!!
