This is a very well written and extremely useful cookbook.
I bought this book after reading through my library's edition. Good recipes and tremendously useful information for the "how and why" questions about cooking all types of seafood.

Magnificent! Bravo!
This cookbook is one that functions excellently as many things. If you are simply looking for fish recipes you have not tried before- this is it! If you are looking for recipes on a wide variety of fish types- this is it! If you are looking to increase your knowledge on methods of cooking different types of fish- this is it! If you feel most comfortable using recipes with pictures that show you how your finished recipe should look- this is it! If you are looking to be more health conscious and want the calories and nutritional information on what you cook- this is it!I love to cook and love to read cookbooks. Usually there is an obvious flaw to the user that the writer misses. Not so in this case! This is absolutely the most complete, well written, creative and informative cookbook on fish you will probably ever need! For me- I was really glad I took the time to read the “Getting Started” section. It is an excellent summary for the home (serious) cook on how to work with different cooking methods, different fish types, how to buy fish and how the book itself is set up. I got a ton out of this section because I totally appreciate a well informed summary that is neither too long or overly detailed. I want a practical book that I can use all the time. The other great thing about the organization of this book is there are separate chapters for everyday dinners, weeknight dinners and special occasion dinners. I love that there is recognition of the fact that I may be motivated to try making something on a Saturday night that I would never have the energy for on a Wednesday after work.Lastly, the recipes themselves are new, fresh, and well written. You will know how to substitute one fish for another, which fish would make a good substitute and which may not. Also, you will know why the recipe works. These recipes are not full of crazy ingredients that you have to drive to 3 grocery stores to find. Most recipes use just a handful of ingredients you are likely to find in any produce store. This is the best cookbook on fish I have ever read. I recommend it highly and hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Pretty much everything you want to know about cooking seafood is here
My diet is 80-90% seafood and I wanted a cookbook that would help me expand my recipe repertoire and cover a wide variety of dishes. Foolproof Fish does not disappoint. Despite the title, there are also plenty of recipes for shrimp, crab, lobster, mussels, etc. Every recipe I’ve tried following so far has been accessible, easy to prepare, and with tasty results. There’s enough recipes and variety in here that I feel like this is the only definitive seafood cookbook I need. The beginning pages provide a thorough lesson on the types of fish, how to look for fresh fish, how to store them, and how to prepare them for cooking. The layout of the book itself is great, with the photo on one page and the entire recipe on the next, so I don’t have to keep flipping back and forth. I also like the inclusion of fish substitutions if the main one for a given recipe isn’t available to you for whatever reason. I highly recommend this to fellow seafood lovers!

Best Seafood Cookbook
I live in New Orleans, seafood central. This is an AMAZING cookbook to a T. Someone in the previous review wrote there were mostly shrimp recipes which so bizarre to me bc it is so inaccurate. There are equal number of shrimp, fish, bivalve, squid, octopus recipes across the board in every chapter. There are chapters explaining how each kind of fish should be prepared and cooked without using the recipes in this book which I appreciate. It’s a true teaching book and the recipes are extraordinary to boot! 5 stars
