I bought genuine batteries for my Makita tools
I have a Makita leaf blower and hedge trimmer. I use the blower in the winter for clearing light, dry snow from my driveway and sidewalks. I used two aftermarket batteries in addition to a Makita branded battery that came with the tools. My son advised me that aftermarket batteries are at higher risk of catching fire and leaking than the branded ones. So I recycled my aftermarkets and replaced them with these genuine Makitas. I'm confident that all my batteries will power my tools safely for the long term.

Won’t fit older non star rated tools
I bought these to use as a back up for a new battery powered chop saw, along with be my primary batteries for my little used 6” circular saw. Turns out they didn’t for the latter. The saw didn’t have the star emblem under the base, so these didn’t fit........or did they? Upon some internet searching, checking them in other tools, and comparing them to batteries that fit, the reason they didn’t fit was an extra tab on the battery that prohibited their full insertion into non star tools. Let’s just say removing that tab was easy as pie and now they work where I wanted them to work. I also am sure I voided their warranty. The reason for the tab it to keep them from being used in tools that will discharge them too quickly, causing them to get hot (when used for extended times, not my usage) and therefore damaging the longevity of the batteries. Still a great deal, and I’d do it again if I needed batteries. They are exactly what they were meant to be. Don’t take my misuse as a promotional for doing the same......wink.

They work
I have a drill and an impact drill. Batteries work and charge fast. Very easy to attach and detach. They are only used for household maintenance. The batteries are new so I have no information of longevity.

Makita batteries seem more expensive than pretty much any other brand or device but I think you get what you pay for. I have never had an issue with these or any Makita branded batteries. They charge very fast and last long enough to charge up the other one (depending on the device you are powering.) The 4.0Ah version is the same size and weighs as much as the 3.0Ah as far as I can tell, only difference is of course longer run time and longer charge time. I like the inbuilt power indicator which my old ones do not have. At this point I've got 4 Makita batteries so I might not need more until one of these dies or fails to hold a charge. Like I said, the quality and track record has been top notch so I don't expect I'll have to get more any time soon.

The real mcCoy.
Keeps my 10 year old drill and impact combo alive. It is nice not to have good tools phased out over battery issues. Thanks Makita, I like the 18v. platform have other tools also, most of the time Makita does it right in the tool department. Cordless and corded.

great value
Batteries arrived in good condition, appear to be brand new batteries. They were fully dis-charged out of the box but charged as expected. I have not had the opportunity to use these yet so I cannot comment on battery life or longevity.
