Great gift but you might have to set it up for the person
I purchased this for a friend of mine. He was really excited and thought it was cool. However, the magnet was kinda weak which ruined the gift-ability somewhat. I had to help him figure out how to get the ball to properly float otherwise it would simply fall to the side or not float as intended. In hindsight, this would be a great gift for a kid who loves science. The 'spine' of the product is not made of the greatest plastic so do be careful not to drop it because it will break.

Awesome Gift!
My daughter has purchased this twice as a birthday gift for friends. It's the perfect gift for the brainy, engineering type... Fun and different.

It works ok, but not as well as i would have liked. Probably not too bad for the price point.
I won’t accuse this of false advertising... but the actual device is different from the product pictures. The globe doesn't float centered in the "C" like in the pictures, it floats much closer to the top. the color of the LED is also a single blueish color. but it does float, and if you give it a careful spin, it will rotate for a while. but it doesn't rotate on its own, so keep that in mind. It also has a constant buzzing sound that can be heard in a very quiet room. Its not loud at all, barely audible in fact. but if you are in a quiet room, you may hear it. As other have said, documentation is poor, but it doesn't need thorough instructions, it’s pretty easy to understand.

Grandson requested
My 15 year old grandson requested it for Christmas and loved it. He had it set up in just a few minutes, amazing.
