The daddy of colour ( yes - before all those others)
All those other renowned innovative established greats of colour photography that we've come to know and love, they slide into a new perspective when you see Haas's images and with his Kodachrome at 8 Asa!For me Haas's lyrical sensibility trumps any whimsy or intellectual commentary or contrived symmetry and describes more a simple but profound feeling of keen wonder as his inspiration. I see in so many other greats the echoes of his originality. So wonderful to have a book of his work that is affordable! Sumptuous. Utterly Gorgeous!

Superb book of Ernst Haas images.
Superb book of Ernst Haas images. I've not seen most of these before. Colour photos made in the 50's and very early 60's more than seventy years ago, well before the rest of us now wander the streets looking for images to make. These are all fantastic and hold up well in these modern times. Abstract cityscapes with people inhabiting colourful, observed spaces. Really nicely printed and layed out with one photo per page. Lovely.

A classic
Ernst Haas along with Fred Herzog, Saul Leiter, Alex Webb and Harry Gruyaert compose a phenomenal group of color street photography. Lovely shots in this book.
