Bang for your buck + exceptional customer service
Considering the low price compared to the big outdoor brands, I'm refreshingly surprised with what the quality - the shoulder straps are supportive and well-padded, the waist strap works great (I forget I'm wearing my pack at times), and it's the perfect size for a day hike (I carry the essentials for the whole family). I think it would benefit from one more large-ish pocket, but I'm still content. In addition to the well-made pack, the customer service is awesome. I had a defect in my first pack, and they took exceptional care of me. I'm well-pleased with my purchase and look forward to many hikes with my Paladineer.

International travel and home hiking
I took this backpack to Italy with me (not for backpacking, just as a carry on) and it fit everything I needed in it including snacks for my 9 day trip. I didn't have a checked bag and I made it to and from Italy with only this backpack and purse, I traveled very light. I had 9 days worth of underwear and socks, 1 pair of pants, a long skirt, three shirts, a small bag with shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, eyeliner, contact solution and case. Plus I was wearing all my heaviest items into the plane (rain jacket and cardigan). Went through security with no issues regarding the bag. I bought a lot of street art so the pocket against the back kept it all really nice so nothing got bent.Currently using it for hiking, so I keep my hammock, straps and water bottle in it. I think it works great and I got it for a wonderful price!

BUT...
It's a nice pack, BUT the zippers get stuck easily. Seem like they are low quality. It's very annoying.

this bag will fit you better. Quality
Ok, I bought this pack in the hopes of finding a (very) cheap alternative to the Gregory Jade 28 because I was hoping to carry more than 28L on an upcoming trek. The Gregory Jade 38 (the next bigger pack) currently costs $178, so I thought I'd try this pack out first.I've included pictures of the Paladineer 40 next to the Gregory Jade 28 in size S.Fit: I am 5'4" and have a 16in torso. The shoulder straps do not hit at the right level. There's about 2 inches between where the straps attach to the bag and where my shoulders hit. If you have a longer torso, this bag will fit you better.Quality: The Gregory pack wins hands down on all aspects of quality, as it should for costing almost 3x as much. The Paladineer's zippers feel cheaper and snag a lot. The nylon doesn't have as much give. The stretch mesh on the front of the bag doesn't even accommodate my rain jacket, whereas I could fit two jackets in the Gregory front mesh. The side pockets don't stretch as much either but can accommodate a 1L Klean Kanteen bottle.Volume: This was the biggest disappointment for me. I filled the pack with everything that I had crammed into the Gregory: sleeping bag, base layers, fleece, toiletries, rain jacket, camp clothes...and it all barely fit. I was hoping to be able to pack more in this larger bag, but I just can't. I do want to mention, however, that the hip belt pockets are large enough to hold an iPhone 6 in an Otterbox, which was important to me.Comfort: When I tried on the filled pack, I was pleasantly surprised. I really liked how the bottom of the back sloped up and away from the hip belt. This prevents the load from sagging below the belt and dragging you down, which was my only issue with the REI Trail 40 pack. However, the shoulder straps are rough and would definitely chafe if rubbing against bare skin. The inner edge of the shoulder strap rubbed against my neck.I'm still giving this bag 5 stars because for less than $50, it has a lot of good features like a rain cover, large hip belt pockets, hydration sleeve, reflective accents, and trekking pole attachments. In summary, it's great for the price, but not great.Buy this bag if:1. You have a long torso2. Need a really inexpensive backpack with a hip belt that has large pockets3. Won't be wearing a tanktop while wearing it

Versatile, excellent traveling bag.
I really like this backpack. I am tall (6 ft), but the straps adjust perfectly to fit my frame. It looks like it would also adjust well to fit any height.I use it to travel- I really like the side pockets for holding wallet, phone, etc. I plan on using it for an upcoming camping/hiking trip. Definitely would recommend. I have always had a North Face backpack- this is half the price, and a much better bag!

Great backpack
Great product for the price ($16.70). If it had known brand label on it it would be $70+ backpack.

Will be great for Europe!
My husband and I ordered a slew of ~40L backpacks online and this was by far my favorite. As an average size woman it fits me well. even when I threw a bunch of stuff in it it still felt fairly light and comfortable so it fits me well. The chest strap moves far enough up that it can sit above the girls. The waist strap seemed pretty supportive. The zippers do seem a little weak, definitely not as smooth as a high end backpack, but I think this will do the trick for my upcoming 2 week trip to Europe. My husband and I are both planning on packing very light and only bringing 40L backpacks so that we can easily carry our luggage around from town to town without having to worry about dragging wheeled bags over cobblestone or up the stairs of the trains or hotels. Can't wait to try it!
