Worked as it should.
Helped us get data off an old IDE HDD. How long will it last? No way to know. Worked once, anyway. That’s all we needed.

old laptop ide
this was needed to get into an old IDE hard drive my docking station is SATA so i use it.but i did have to take apart the docking station housing to plug it in, just a hint of what i had to do now to put it back together. if you are wondering why i didn't use a different kind i did for some reason it wouldn't read so i think it needed more power. look at my review of the one i ordered worked great on SATA drives .

Didn't work
Only detected two of 5 IDE drives. Of the two it detected, one kept coming up and disappearing. The other one stayed on, but every time I would format it, it would fail after it got to 100% and would revert to RAW. Also only worked with of of my two sata to usb adapters. I probably got a defective unit.

No frills adapter. As described
I used this for an old (but important) 10GB laptop drive where the laptop crapped out on me. Worked flawlessly on my desktop. Put this on the IDE of the HDD and plugged in the SATA cables to the MB and booted up the computer and it read like a charm.*Note when looking at old IDE drives: my HDD wouldn't be read at first. It was because I needed to put a jumper on the 'Cable Select' on the rear of the HDD where the IDE pins are. Just a little tip in case you forgot about these old drives :)

It works.
It's a simple adapter for 2.5 inch notebook sized drives. I used it with an external USB to SATA adapter to access an old IDE drive I needed to wipe. No issues, did its job reliably, and is now a permanent tool in my collection for those random time I need IDE access.

Got the job done!
Had a 20 year old hard drive that needed to be wiped before being recycled, but the computer hardware had broken years ago. Purchased this and sandwiched it between the drive and a SATA-to-USB adapter from an external drive enclosure; powered right up and drive was clean in minutes! Nice to have in the adapter drawer for the odd job for family of friends!

Never worked.
It never worked. I think there were some connections crossed. Total waste of my time.
