A Delightful Summer Read!
My Big Greek Summer was a pleasant surprise for me! I thought this would be a breezy novel for some mindless reading but it was everything but! This book, while mainstreamed as a romantic comedy, deals with real life issues like broken marriages and overcoming life obstacles. There are tender moments, laugh out loud moments, and quite a few powerful messages in the book. I truly enjoyed it! If you are looking for a realistic chick lit novel with delightful characters who are easy to connect with then I certainly recommend this book for you. I love everything about it from the plot, the issues the characters are facing (and it's not just the heroine who is facing life challenges), the scenery (I would love to visit Greece after this book), and the delicious descriptions of the cuisine! My Big Greek Summer is a total winner and a must have for all chick lit fans!In this book, you will meet Mandy- a 30 year old woman who is comfortable in life and in her marriage. But things get bumpy and Mandy makes the decision to take some time off from the relentless problems she's facing in her life (like her cheating husband) so she sets off to Greece for a little "Me Time". Not to long into her trip she starts to relax and fall in love with the little village she is staying at. She even meets some new friends. Will this trip of a lifetime, one that brings her so much joy, change the entire path to her life? Or is it just a dream. One that will only last until she boards her plane out of there? Well, to find out you will have to read it!Once again, this book is a total hit! I loved it to pieces and am looking forward to jet-setting in more of Sue Roberts books in the near future. So take a chance, read this lovely novel, and enjoy!

A decent Summer read
Attracted to the cover like a moth to a flame, I took on “My Big Greek Summer” in my search for more light-hearted reading for the Summer months.“My Big Greek Summer” is a second chance novel featuring Mandy, who, after discovering that her husband is having an affair, is looking for an escape; landing her on the Greek village of Thakos. During her time in Greece, Mandy makes friends with all sorts of locals (including the hunky, Costas); even attempting to help restore the village’s economy. You know, despite a slow start to the novel, I believe that I found myself enjoying my time with the characters in “My Big Greek Summer.”Of course, the story had a few flaws, for instance, I felt that the author had taken too long to explain Mandy’s background, and introduce the main plot points. I have to admit; I did find myself losing attention a couple of timesAlso, I particularly hated Danny's character; it seemed as though he assumed that Mandy owed it to him to forgive his indiscretions, and that rubbed me the wrong way. Similarly, I felt that Mandy's father's visit to encourage Mandy to forgive Danny was a bit ridiculous. It is hard to trust a cheater again. However, despite these few irks, I’ll be damned if I am not a sucker for a fluffy ending and a pretty colour … and this book delivered in that respect. I loved reading about Mandy’s time in Thakos (and Costas; the descriptions of the tiny village were gorgeous and made me want to pack my bags and head to Greece.Overall, while “My Big Greek Summer” wasn’t my favourite book, but I definitely didn’t hate it either. I did have a good enough time reading it. I would probably recommend this novel to my fellow chick-lit fans.
