Arthur Quinn and the World Serpent (Father of Lies Chronicles)

Jormungandr's Debut
Great start to the series. I liked it enough to finish it in two days. Good action, enjoyable even for a 24 yr old. Kids should be able to recognize with Arthur easily.Cons: it has some loopholes adults are likely to notice but kids probably won't. (Ex: Arthur freaking out in class and seeing runes on the board. No one thinks he might need to see a doctor or get some counseling. Instead the ordeal is thrown off and he's told not to do it again.)If you like accurate Norse mythology, don't read this. There's some accurate mythology, but the author creates his own ideas for Loki and Jormungandr.I didn't particularly enjoy Loki's incredibly evil and psychotic persona- but that's probly cuz I'm a Lokean. Either way, Loki's character is exceptional.

AWSOME
I recommend this book to anyone who likes action mythology and mystery . Arthur likes to explore and that's what got him into the whole mess

Arthur Quinn and the world serpent (The Father of Lies Chronicles
I liked this book a lot because it was realistic sounding and due to the amount of detail made it easier to believe.I loved the way Arthur dreams and then his dreams come true.It makes me think that what you dream could come true.I give this book 4.5 out of 5(one of my highest marks yet!) I'm looking forward to. seeing Alan Early in person on world book day in Ireland, Galway.(Lucille,11)

Very Entertaining
Nicely written, charming story invoking Norse mythology. I enjoyed how it mixed in the modern city of Dublin and technology.

First rate fantasy adventure.
Fantastic take on the Norse myths based in modern day Ireland. A brilliant series that easily bears comparison with Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and Demigods series.

Great book, finished it in 12 hours flat. I loved the mix of myth and modern. I'm sure that my family will love it too

Disappointing.
First, the blurb from the website -"With his Dad starting work on the new Metro tunnel, Arthur is forced to move to Dublin. While exploring a hidden underground river, Arthur and his new friends Will and Ash find a mysterious pendent. It glows in the gloom of the river and depicts a monstrous snake strangling the trunk of a tree. They soon work out that the pendent is a warning, a sign that something evil is waiting underneath the city. Something that's been imprisoned for a thousand years, something left by the Vikings, something that can – and will - destroy first the city, then the world. What did the Vikings hide under Dublin and why did they leave it there? Who is the dark man that spies on Arthur and what is his evil plan? This hair-raising fantasy adventure will have you thrilled to the end, as only Arthur and his friends can save the world from the dreaded World Serpent."I really tried to like this book and stuck with it for over two hundred and fifty pages before I just couldn't take any more and gave up.The characters are not strongly written or convincing. I could not get involved with them, nor care about them. The storyline is convoluted but contrived. The dialoge is banal and boring. The whole book is over three hundred pages long and that's about twice as long as it warrants.Sorry, but it didn't work for me.The dialogue is boring and banal.
