Five Stars
I bought this unit last may and the unit worked great for a little over a month, then the electronic grid stopped working. There is a one year warranty so in late July I sent it back for a refund, Hint " GIFT CARD" its been 5 days and still have not received my refund or "GIFT CARD" I would gladly replace it if I could get a good one that would last. When I first got it, and turned it on it was zapping Indian Meal Moths, and Mosquitoes, I just cannot get any service from this company. Always before on Amazon I got good service but not with this one.

Works good for me
Works as supposed to. I'm opposed to using this outdoors & indiscriminatly killiing anything attracted to the light tho. There are some species of mothes & things that are dieing off--lunar moth--for example, & some insects are beneficial to our food crops & flower gardens & a healthy ecosystem. It's never a good idea to indiscriminantly kill things, even insects. That being said, I use a bug light on my back porch in summer & still get mothes & sometimes potatoe bugs flying in when my dog goes out to do his business. So I use this indoors when I sleep & the lights are off to clear the inside of the house of them & it makes a great nite lite too for middle of the night bathroom trips. If someone had closet mothes (those are the tiny ones that eat holes in clothes & can infest a bedroom or home, then this would take care of that too. Highly reccommend it for anyone in that situation! I've had no bulbs fail yet, & I think that when 1 ever does that they are replacable. The removable tray is a great feature that I really appreciate! I can keep tabs on what I'm killing & if there's enough to warrant nightly use vs once a wk, as well as emptying it out into the trash; so the removable tray is a very handy addition that isn't available on many bug zappers.

Why not get best value ?
All these Chinese made big zappers use exactly the same components including the same brand bulbs. I've used them for many years with good results. At this time I have three different brands and except for the name they're basically the same. So I ask you , if they're all the same why not buy the least expensive unit? Especially when you've got Amazons return policy behind you. Also at the time of this review the cost of replacement bulbs is almost the same of this new unit.My newest zapper arrived in perfect working order and is on the job zapping bugs.

Excellent customer service—Zapper works
10/24/16 EditThe Zapper stopped working. I wrote to Jan at TaoTronics and they sent me a replacement. Awesome service.5 stars for customer service, 4.5 stars for design. Kira at TaoTronics replied instantly for a temp problem that was resolved very satisfactorily. My comments have to do with the design. Included with the Zapper is a 4" long brush with fine bristles (about 1" wide). One must insert the brush through the narrow grill so as to brush about a 2" wide swath of the grill and tubes. Then one removes the brush and inserts it again for the next 2" wiping of the electrodes and tubes. In other words, each morning it's a time consuming process—so—I removed the Philips screws that attach the grill and removed the grill on the electrode side. Now, with the grill permanently removed, I can use a 2" wide paint brush to remove the dead insects each morning much faster. I can see that I'll have to do a more thorough cleaning of the tubes with a damp cloth perhaps once a month. As a design suggestion I'd make the grill so that it hinges up out of the way for fast brushing and fasten it with wing nuts Other than the grill consideration it's working as expected. I'd like to see a 6' long power cord instead of the 2-3' long one.I've placed 1 of three (30 day) Mosquito Magnet OCTENOL3 Octenol Biting Insect tablets into a toilet paper tube (slightly flattened) so that air moves but not flows too fast. It sits in the dead bug tray. It's attracting lots of mosquitoes (a big concern here in Hawaii now with the Dengue outbreak).Update 6/9/16: Zapper stopped zapping even though the bulbs were working. I wrote asking for suggestions and Tao Tronics replied immediately andshipped me a new one, no charge. Wow! I'm so impressed with the Zapper and TaoTronics. Of note: I've been running it nightly with dozens of carcasses each morning, and it still looks new.

TaoTronics and Aspectek have exactly the same light bulb, but TaoTronics is superior in design and functionality
Bought this after trying the competing product by Aspectek for few days (I had to return Aspertek item because one light bulb stopped working after few days http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I0G0JXE?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00 ). In short, they both use the same light bulbs: FSL Actinic BL T8 F10W. They are exactly the same and attract insects the same. The main difference is that the TaoTronics unit has a sleeker design, while Aspectek looks more like a bulky toy-like box of plastic. Additional, the tray of Aspectek is very loose and barely stable in the unit which might cause inadvertent spills of dead insects with any light touch. TaoTronics tray is designed nicely to fit as part of the main unit, and hold the zapped insects in much better way. In short, Aspectek has more like a toy feel to it, and lousy tray design, while TaoTronics has a much nicer and sleek design.

Best Bug Zapper Ever
If you are looking to get rid of flying bugs, then look no further! This bug zapper was a God send this summer and fall. I have to often let out my dogs so they go outside. Well, everyone knows that when you open a door, a fly comes in. We had flies and spiders throughout the house. After we bought this bug zapper, there was a definite decline in insect activity. Not only is it a pretty blue light that doesn't bother your eyes, but it draws the bugs into it. The clean up is so easy too. There is a removable tray at the bottom of the unit that simply slides out and you can dump the dead bugs into the trash. This unit is very useful inside or outside the house. You can hang it from the eaves of your porch or you can set it in a corner in your home. Either way, you will be bothered less by the bug life of the warmer weather. I highly recommend this product for it's versatility, and user friendly style.
