I'm about 4 hours into building this and I'm about half way done. I'm impressed by the quality and engineering that went into this. It's really sturdy so far and alot of fun to build. I'll update how good it works when I'm finished but so far it's super fun and a slight challenge. Update, it's been together now for a few months and it's sturdy and works good

I bought this model and built it for my girlfriend as a Christmas gift. I took my time, so it took a good 7hrs to build. The result was a beautiful antique style jewelry box full of detail with functionality. And when my girlfriend unwrapped it and realized I had to build it and how long it took, she was overwhelmed. A fun project and perfect gift. Take your time and use plenty of wax to lube the moving parts. I basically melted the wax on a spoon and poured it in. No problems. All motion is smooth.

Ok. This was so fun to put together. The picture instructions were pretty easy to follow. The parts were well marked. And I am amazed that I made a movable jewelry box with no glue or nails. I plan on giving it to a family member who will like.

Great putting together. Some issues with the gearing, and not very smooth. It looks good though.

This is my first kit I have done, and I love it and had a lot of fun doing it, some of the parts were a bit sensitive and chipped a little bit, it is also pretty hard to open and close it, but I am gonna put that to user error. Other then that, it is a wonderful product and it was a lot of fun putting together and painting, I will be getting more so I can get good building them.

If the final thing is what I get from a store, I would call it a total piece of crap. It looks fragile, the mechanism isn't completely smooth, and I can see rubber bands sticking out. But because I spent hours building it, making sure the cogs turn at all, trying out different lengths of the rubber bands, it's a thing of beauty. I like it, and I am sure I will try out the other products as well at some point.

So disappointed! I spent hours putting this piece together and one of the very last pieces is defective! It is the front of a drawer that makes up the ‘face’ of the jewelry box when closed. Every other piece has a design burned in, and one of the front panels in my set is completely blank, so it looks like a patch job. Totally ruins the entire effect and for $60, just very upsetting. Not worth it.

I have bought a lot of these kind of wood projects, I have enjoyed assembling each and every one of them! The grandkids love to watch the mechanics of them work. They also serve as a great way to teach the kiddos the basics of how gears work and the importance of following directions for awesome results!
