The Philadelphia Experiment [Blu-ray] (2012)

I went into this knowing it was going to be cheezy! It didn't fail my expectations! EXTRA CHEEZE and HOLD THE COMPLAINTS! Seriously. I read a bunch of comments on how this was 'wrong' and this was this and this was that and seriously people. If you really came to watch this expecting some A-level movie - of course you're disappointed. You're also unrealistic. This was a perfect way to blow a couple hours on a cold, Fall Sunday afternoon, popping popcorn and laughing at the parts that were the cheesiest! Again - I knew what to expect and it was FUN! Sucks to be those who complain about every thing in life! I'm sure they're a real JOY to be at parties with!!! 5 - STARS for me and my wife! Oh, and to conclude - another thing we loved about this movie is that we haven't heard ONE WORD from any of these people acting in this movie about their political hate and disdain for President Trump - or how they're threatening to leave the U.S. when he's re-elected, lol. I don't watch any of those A-list actors/actresses any longer. In fact, I've destroyed all the DVDs we had of all of them who think their personal political opinions matter!

I have no idea what they were trying to accomplish with this, but they failed miserably at accomplishing anything. Easily the worst writing I've seen in quite some time. The problem, mainly, is in the complete lack of justification for the antagonist's actions.It starts off with the expected cliché about the cocky scientist showing some new technology to the heartless government agent. When the technology goes bad, suddenly the agent wants to kill the people who are trying to stop it. She's not trying to cover up a problem before it gets out by killing witnesses, the problem is already world-wide news. She's not trying to kill some renegades because she thinks they are making the problem worse; they want exactly the same thing she wants, to stop the problem. She isn't even secretly trying to profit from the problem and stop them from fixing it. She literally wants exactly the same thing they want. She could just have said, "make it happen, call me when it's done" and gone for drinks while they worked. Instead, she sends death squads after them for... drama? Imagine, for example, if in "Independence Day" one of the generals suddenly pulled a gun on Will Smith and tried to kill him to stop him from flying up to the mothership to plant the virus and destroy the aliens. Yeah, that's how stupid this is.

And I actually liked it better than the originalIn the Original Michael Pare was the star, the hero and Nancy Allen the girl who helps him.In this version Michael Pare is one of the bad guys and so is Gina Holden (who some of you may remember as Dale Arden from the Canadian TV series Flash Gordon, that a lot of people hate, and I personally liked).The good guy is Nicholas Lea (an actor you probably don't know by name but if you watch TV you've seen him regularly or irregularly in shows like The Commish, Once A Thief, The X-files, Andromeda, Whistler, Men in Tree, Kyle XY, V, The Killing, Continuum) as Bill Gardner a Navy Lt. from 1943 who was on the ship and his contemporary grand daughter Molly Gardner who is the girl who helps him through the show.Also playing a good guy is Malcom McDowell.Like the original this is about the experimental Navy ship from 1943 that was trying a cloaking device and instead created a worm hole they were sucked into.Well in 2012 scientists were tinkering with the same experimental device and brought the ship back along with one of the crew -- Bill Gardner, who, like Pare in the original, wanders the streets of the modern world looking for home and love ones and bumps into his grand daughter.This version is fast paced as compared to the original which was one long road trip and lots of dreary dialog.Pare is NOT a leading man but he plays a decent bad guy in this one, going after Bill and Molly who are trying to send the ship back to 1943, while Bad Girl Kathryn Moore (Gina Holden) tries to bomb it out of existence.This movies is better than some of the negative reviews posted here say it the show is.It IS a made for TV movie so if you've watched your share, you know what to expect.But if the Original bored you, you might find thing one more adventurous and exciting.(I also like the Philadelphia Experiment 2 where the NAZI take over the United States, that was interesting, but it's not here, I just mention it in passing.)

First off the characters were not really believable. It was like the writers had a political agenda to make all the government people brainless "shoot first, ask questions later" types. Why would you not even listen to the people you hire to do an "experiment". And the end of the film had a lot of loose ends, it was like the writers ran out of time and ideas and decided to let you guess at what happened. At least there was no gratuitous sex scenes, for that I gave it one star. It could have been so much better if the government people had worked with the scientists to solve the problem rather than to solve it by "blowing it up and killing everyone involved". Come or writers not everything is a government conspiracy! Special effects were pretty good, but they can't carry a movie. I kept watching it to see how the problem was resolved, but it kind of just went away for no apparent reason... oh well, better luck next time. :)

Good price great movies

Por los comentarios en inglés, pensé que esta película vendría con la versión de 1984 y la nueva, desaforadamente solo viene un disco con la nueva versión que es un asco de película. No malgasten su dinero en una película malísima como ésta y busquen la versión original.
