Phenomenal book on the strength and bravery of twenty five American Sikh Women
Just finished reading this amazing book a few days ago from Sikh Love Stories Project. I read this book because I wanted to learn more about Sikhism. I feel the best way to learn about something is through experiences, and that's exactly what this book is. Her Name Is Kaur is a collection of twenty five stories of bravery and strength from American Sikh Women. This book causes you to feel such a wide range of emotions that go up and down and back up, as each writer shares some of the pain and joy they have experienced in their journey. Love, heartbreak, losing parents, losing children, finding your career, balancing career and family life, going against parents and cultural norms, finding strength, finding yourself, and finding Waheguru (God), are just some of the stories these brave women share with us. I believe this book is a must read for everyone. I believe women readers will find a lot of strength and support in these pages. It will help you find your way if you feel lost. This is also a great read for men, brothers, boyfriends, husbands, and fathers. Once you see the beautiful heart of these women, it will change how you view and treat all women forever. Interesting read
This book helped me better understand the Sikh faith. It is easy to read and interesting. I do, however, think the editor included just a few too many essays.

Inspiring, Courageous and Blessed
Having been a part of Sikh Love Stories, creating this novel has been a thrilling ride. As a Sikh, love is a driving force in my life, whether it is between myself, God or for another. Writing about love and it's bliss is extremely rewarding; having read the entire book now, it is without a doubt that these women have surpassed courageous. The stories are y full of love, inspiration and courage but also reach to the reader at a very personal level. I felt as if I could relate to each and every story with great compassion. This book is only the beginning of the opening conversation not only for Kaurs, but the Sikh community on a whole and their relationship with LOVE!

You will cry and you will laugh, but most importantly you will find a connection and sense of belonging with women from across the country. This book of stories is a first of its kind and is a must-read for all Sikhs, and all women.

One of my favorite books! It's one of the books that changed my life and brought me closer to Sikhi. I highly recommend this book to every Sikh American. It will give you self-confidence and change your perspective on life. As a 22 year old, I can't wait to share this book with my children when I become a mother later in life.

It's wonderful to hear from these women and their poignant experiences in both life and love, especially coming from a culture that the West knows little of, or at best has misunderstood. BRAVO to these brave women who speak to the hearts and heartaches of all women!

Her Name is Kaur offers its readers a unique and important window into to the lives of Sikh women in the diaspora. The stories reveal the inner lives and experiences of the writers and the challenges and triumphs of their families and communities. It is refreshing in its honesty and willingness to be both celebratory and critical.

Sikh or Non-Sikh, give it a read!
Very interesting, unique, and fun book to read not just for Sikh women, but Sikh men as well. Infact, these are great strories to read even if you're not a Sikh. They are well-written, and grab your attention on the subject of love, marriage, equality and the importance of women in Sikhi. Western society tends to give a warped view of marriage at times - sometimes just about money, status, or pleasure. As stated in the book, marriage is about service to each other, a partnership and to help each other merge with God. I myself am a Sikh male, not married yet, and reading this book gave me a new perspective of love and marriage. There are some stories which can be very powerful and grab your attention - such as one story where a mother had lost her twin babies. If you get a chance to read this book, this is one of the stories you must read. Very sad and enlightening at the same time.Meeta Kaur does an excellent job compiling the stories - I like to call this the Sikh version of Chicken Soup for the Soul! I would love to see a Part 2 for this.
