To reduce expenses and to help protect the environment, in early 2021 our household started taking a number of measures to cut our energy consumption. Those measures have proven successful: total 2021 electricity consumption in our single-family, detached home in the US SE was about 8,000 kWh (3,200 of which was for AC), compared to about 11,000 kWh annual average in previous years. We are pleased, so much so that we have just reordered the film to apply it to other windows, placing priority on those windows that a) receive considerable direct sunshine here in the hot SE of the USA or b) can be looked into by neighbors or from the street.We have found that this window film safeguards our privacy nicely when the light outside is brighter than the light inside. If we want privacy when it’s dark out, we just close the curtains. We have also discovered that the film significantly reduces the amount of bright light shining through the windows, giving the rooms a softer, more cool-colored feeling. Some members of our household, keen to maintain as much natural light as possible, have vetoed the idea of having the film applied on the windows of their rooms.Another benefit of the film is that it can protect against the shattering of the glass in the event of, for example, a ball flying into it, a thief trying to break through it and get in, an extreme weather event … or a war – I saw on TV the other day a man applying film to his windows in the Ukraine.When it comes to applying this film, here are some lessons I learned:a) Be patient; take your time; think quality over quantity. There are some jobs around the house that can be done well with a mindset of speed and high energy; this isn’t one of them. To do this job well, a mindset of calm and of quality of work is called for. Approach this task when you have a good chunk of unhurried time available, then put on some music you enjoy and settle calmly into a useful task.b) Trial and (frustrating) error taught me to cut the film BEFORE applying it. I learned to carefully measure the windows, then cut the film with 1/8” to spare on all sides. This made it much easier to apply the film. True, we now have 1/8” of untinted window all the way around, but that’s barely noticeable, and the cut lines are clean. With this method, I don’t risk scratching the glass of the storm windows or cutting into their rubber edging. It’s also far less unwieldy. By cutting in advance, application becomes a very manageable one-person job.c) When preparing to cut the film, completely clear and clean the biggest table you have in your house. Do your cutting there. We needed some help with trying to keep our house cool. The sun was blasting one side of our house and making the rooms incredibly hot, even with the air running. I bought this just to see what happened. I put it on one rooms windows and it instantly made the room cooler and darker. I did the bottom part of the window first and by the time I did the top I could feel the heat going away as I was putting it up. This, plus roller blinds plus blackout shades is IT. I ended up ordering 3 more boxes to put up in two other rooms in the house. 1 box was enough to cover 1 whole window having a vertical opening window. So 1/2 on each part of the window. The trick that worked best for me is have a spray bottle and shower squeegee. Soak the window entirely and lay it little by little using the squeegee. It leaves little to no bubble or creasing. It gives the window a nice tinted look from the outside. If there are any bubbles or lines, you can certainly see them from the outside. After I got the first two windows down the other 3 I’ve done were quick. You can also take this down and put it back up if you mess it up. I will be buying at least 1 more box for the remaining window we have that’s facing the sun. Definitely worth the money!

Not as vibrant as what the display photo shows. But it serves the purpose that I bought it for which was to make it where it obscures the view into my house through a glass door.Easy to put up. Easy to trim at the bottom where it needed to be cut to fit the window/door. I did not have to trim the sides as it was a great width for the window. It noticeably filtered the sun coming in through the door also which will hopefully cut down on the heat that comes in.

Beautiful blue tint! This was definitely a two man job. We did two big panels of a sliding glass door. The first side was a bit wonky as we tried using the razor cutter and cut it to size. Ha ha NO. The next panel was MUCH better. We marked the edges with 1/4” extra and used scissors to glide the cut all the way. We used LOTS of soapy water, and the edging tool with the razor to trim off excess. Took 15 minutes vs. 45 minutes for the first panel. I’m not an expert; but I feel like we could do another large door easily! The material is thick and keeps the heat and UV rays out! I’m in Arizona with direct sunlight through that door that would literally bubble up my vinyl plank floor due to heat exposure. I have had my curtains pulled back and am enjoying the view of my backyard! Bonus: it’s privacy glass during the daytime! A sunny day looks like an overcast day from inside my house. This product is amazing!
