Der-FranzCrema organic Coffee, ground, 1000 g

Thought I would try and write a balanced review explaining pros and cons as couldn’t find much other than it was great vs it wasn’t. Make sure you only read the reviews of the variety you want! This review is for the organic one.In terms of value for money it’s 5 stars, with subscribe and save worked out at £1.86/200g, at least half of cafe direct’s price (when on offer). If you want organic ground coffee it isn’t going to get much cheaper.Flavour I would describe as average. It smells and tastes like coffee, but without the extra aromas that the nicer stuff has.(Illy, Mule, redemption, method, but of course those are probably 3 times the price or more).There is non of the ashtray flavour that cheap coffee often has (and other reviewers have noted on one of the other varieties that this company make). I was concerned that this would be disgusting, so bought the smallest pack size in case it had to be thrown!The grind is fairly fine, so works well in my espresso machine (pictured). Probably not so good in a French press, as you will need a courser grind to prevent it exploding upwards when you press the plunger.Strength-seems strong in terms of caffeine content.I recently moved to organic coffee, where there is much less choice, including offers.On balance if I could afford a nicer coffee I would do so, but for a morning wake up this will do fine. Not sure if I will order more (as like many people I’m fussy about coffee), but it was certainly better than I expected, whilst also having the environmental and possible health benefits of reducing chemical residue intake.Update 18/3/24 after drinking the coffee for a couple of weeks I have been more and more impressed with the flavour. I accidentally made myself our previous go to daily coffee (lavazza espresso in a black packet) and realised that this was both quite similar and surprisingly I preferred. Interesting as we previously tried most of what was available and had settled on that as the best cost to price ratio.

Nice value for money ground coffee.Great price when buying the 4x 1kg pack.Being picky it is slightly too finely ground but we do still enjoy it.

Nice taste and it’s organic

I normally buy premium coffee beans which are quite pricey - however due to the cost of living i decided to look at alternatives in order to save a few pounds! This coffee came up on prime day so i decided to order - i messed up though and ordered the ground coffee instead of the beans, so i re-ordered the means.You get 4 x 1kg bags of coffee beans. The roast was a lot darker than what i am used to, and the coffee did take a bit of getting used to. It does seem a lot stronger than my previous creama variety. However after a few cups and some tinkering with the grinder settings i was able to get a very pleasant cup of coffee out of my bean to cup machine. As you can see by my review picture the creama produced by these beans is very good - in fact it's much more creamier than my previous premium brand coffee.If the price remains as competitive as this then i will definitely be ordering more of these coffee beans!!

Poor product, not as described, tasteless and odorless

Bought it because of the low price but would not buy again.

The Organic style, Subtle yet distinct flavour, decent grind size & balanced strength, nothing too heavy, enjoyable to try as something different.
