Panasonic DP-UB820 MULTIREGION for DVD Bundle with Schindlers List 25th Anniversary 4K UHD Disc - 2 Items

After a couple of players with issues (LG and Sony) I decided to stump out the extra and go with this unit.All I need to say is I should have bought it from the, no issues yet, after watching several 4K films, top quality sound and vision.Upscaling seems excellent from the DVD and Blu-rays I have tried also.I got the modded version so I can watch the odd US region DVD disks I have.Highly recommended.

Excellent player at a very reasonable price. 4k discs are not cheap but the quality (picture and audio) when played on this machine is superb. Upscaling from standard Blu-rays is as good and unobtrusive as I have seen so no real need to buy 4k discs of ones you already have on standard Blu-ray . DVD playback is also very good. I play the audio through the digital output and my own DAC, amp and speakers.

Bought this to replace a multi-region DVD player that was super high-end back in the day but sadly doesn’t work with my latest TV. This one more than does the job, plays my import discs, and the picture is fantastic. It’s a bit plasticky compared to my old player, but if you want an all-metal build then the next model up is almost three times the price. The reviews I’ve read say there’s no obvious difference in picture quality between the two, they use the same video hardware.The only major negative is the supplied remote - Panasonic really cheaped out on this, it is genuinely rubbish. It’s small and cramped, with a massive Netflix button in the middle that’s way too easy to hit, making it quit your movie and load its slow, clunky version of the Netflix app. It doesn’t have enough buttons, forcing you to rummage through the menus for some functions. The first thing I did was buy a replacement remote from the UB9000, which is the expensive metal model. It works perfectly with this, much nicer to use, more buttons, and has a backlight.

One of the best 4K players available, with plenty of setting up options. It makes HDR look as good as Dolby Vision and generally upscales SD material to almost HD levels. It does however reveal the faults in less well made BD films, even revealing some less well focussed shots. The UB820 has made viewing my old disc library a new and improved experience.

Very good piece of kit, if a bit pricey. Description on Amazon mentions 4k and multi-region DVD, but doesn't mention that this versatile player also plays 3D Blu-Ray discs in 3D when connected to a 3D capable TV.

Excellent Blu Ray player for region 1 and 4k I am very pleased with it.

Great 4k uhd dvd player,picture fantastic changes automatically depending on what kind of dvd your watching and can set it to oled tv or projector there are other settings to Dolby vision hdr10,hdr10+,hlg.the next model up is the 9000 but at over £800 and the differences are not really worth it spending the extra ££'s....10/10 from me.

A nice well made device which gives an excellent picture with added smart features
