Great Scanner but the Manual Needs Corrections and Here They ARE!
I have given this barcode scanner 4 stars only because of errors in the manual which make it difficult to understand on receipt. These errors are for the CT-007 Barcode Scanner Manual. In Function Setup Barcodes, the "Enter Setup" and the "Exit with Save" setup codes are reversed. That is, you must shoot the code on the left titled "Exit with Save" in order to Enter Setup and you must shoot the code labeled "Enter Setup" in order to Exit with Save. In other words, ON is OFF and OFF is ON. Whether you are entering OR exiting, you will hear 3 descending beeps. If you are in setup mode, you will hear 3 ascending beeps when a configuration change is registered. Also, the Enable EAN-13 and Disable EAN-13 codes are reversed. The setup card for inventory function is totally unrelated to the manual. You do not need to enter configuration mode in order to shoot the codes on the card to determine if you are going to write to your computer immediately, or store the values in the scanner and write them later. Normal writes to your computer immediately. Inventory mode stores the data for later. "Uploading Statistics" will write the total number of records in memory (which would be handy if you want to ensure you have enough rows in your spreadsheet for the data dump). "Data upload" will dump the data to your computer (but retain it in scanner flash memory. "Clear" will clear the flash memory. All-in-all, the scanner does what it is supposed to do and has no difficulty reading whatever of the available codes you throw at it, so long as you have them enabled. One more thing. Some have complained it doesn't have a stand. Nope. It doesn't. But it will stand up straight on it's flat-bottomed handle. If you point it towards yourself, you may not feel lonely if you are working alone. :-)

if you play nice, you will appreciate having this around
Careful!! DO NOT LOOK INTO THE LIGHT EMITTED BY THIS SCANNER! Other than that, if you play nice, you will appreciate having this around, but not around children, so lock it up!At first, needed to get used to this device. Originally set up a product database using Microsoft Excel. Scanned barcodes of products to enter into cells of my spreadsheet. Comes with a set of programming barcodes. Tendency is to get bogged down in the details of this feature. Just remember that if the scanner is not operating as you want that you can reset it to factory default by scanning the barcodes that have an asterisk (*).Set device aside for some time until recently when I found that I could scan ISBN codes of books. Works best when you have a website up that purchases books. Their database comes up with the book you just scanned with the price they are willing to pay. Later, plugged the wireless transmitted into my computer's USB port, and now I have a wireless scanner! The scanner appears to only work with conventional barcodes. No multidimentional QR codes, matrix, etc. Be careful to keep all materials in the original box. The card and sheet with barcodes may come in handy later when I master the system.

Almost perfect
As far as scanners go, this one does the job. It works as it should. I haven't tested the memory functionality, but the wireless barcode entry is great. One of the best features is the small wireless receiver. Other units on Amazon have a large USB receiver similar in size to a pack of stick chewing gum. The hand held unit is relatively small. These features make the device very portable, which is a high priority for me. The unit also has a rubberized bumper around the scanning window and at the butt of the handle, likely to protect it from mild dings and short drops. The instructions are fairly basic and do not cover the full functionality, though there is a web address for a full manual. Strangely, a standard USB B type plug is used for charging / wired operation. Why no mini or micro??? Small concerns aside, the price was very reasonable and I'm overall very happy with the purchase.

The unit is designed with excellent ergonomics and is very lightweight and easy to scan with. Overall I'm happy with this purchase but there are a few issues I need to report that take away from an otherwise great product. The first is the lack of a detailed manual or even a link to one. These days most products don't provide a user manual so no problem in that regard. However the quickstart guide doesn't even provide a link to one, and for that I will deduct from their score. Why should I have to email "[email protected]" for a manual? Just provide the link to it. I found a manual for a similar product, but it has differences so may be for a different product (Lector CT10). It seems clear however that esky's products are sourced from an OEM supplier or eski IS the OEM supplier for other brands. Either way it's quite confusing.I also cannot get the scanner to work wirelessly, although the device list shows a AFANDA BARCODE device and without any errors. If there is a setup or mode that must be done to provide the same type of functionality as in the wired mode this is not described in the quickstart guide. The little card describing "inventory mode" does not give me the impression that is relavent, and enabling it and disabling it had no effect on providing the scan data as if entered by the keyboard via a wireless scan using the CT007. The quickstart guide mentions 2 scan modes: auto and manual, but does not explain how to enable either one.The LED indicator would be great if it were visible. The only time I can see it on is when connected by a USB cable, presumably indicating charging. If present, the multicolor status indicators listed on the upper right corner of the quickstart guide are far too dim to notice. Good thing for the audio feedback! It would be nice if there were a "diagnostic" barcode that when scanned rolled through all of the different status indicators and beep/buzzer tones to test the feedback mechanism and help new users identify the meaning of the feedback. With the USB cable connected the scanner provides the number acquired as if entered by the keyboard and that is fantastic, and without the need to install special drivers too. I did find that I have to do several scans the first time before Windows accepts the input. When the wireless USB transceiver is plugged in AND the scanner is plugged in via USB cable there are 2 AFANDA BARCODE devices listed. So for now I have unplugged the wireless dongle and operate the scanner with cable attached. If I could rate with half stars I would have rated this 3.5, but 4 is closer than 3 to the right rating. For the price this barcode reads reliably and is a joy to use.
