One of the best books on spirituality
Wow. This book is a fantastically eloquent presentation of a particular type of esoteric spirituality. I do think it is kind of funny that we need Corbin, of whom I am also an avid reader, to interpret Avicenna, Ibn Arabi, Suhrawardi, for us, and then we need Cheetham to interpret Corbin...it goes without saying that each writer contributes his own vision. But here we luck out because Corbin and Cheetham are masters in their own right. For one interested in these philosophers outside the context of Corbin' s project, Chittick' s books are probably a good place to turn. Arthur Vesluis' books on the parallel currents within Christianity would be good companions to the current book. I do think there is some valor within Negative Theology which is denied here, for which see Carabine' s The Unknown God, and also Gnosticism properly so-called, for which see the books of Jonas, Rudolph and Filoramo. Thank you and enjoy.

Wonderful book! Absolutely no reason to pay $800 for it when it's available from Spring Journal for $20.Update: Spring Journal books and Tom Cheetham have both mentioned that the book will have a second edition some time in the next few months.

Great insightful read!
I haven't quite finished it but can't put it down. It should be required reading for anyone seeking a serious relationship with the Divine and who is concerned with the future of the planet and the human role in that future.

Great read!!!
A wonderful entry-way into the world of Henry Corbin (in case 'jumping in' to Corbin's writing isn't your cup of tea.) Or, you may choose to read this side by side with one of Corbin's works. Or afterwards. Just read it!! Cheetham is a wonderful author.

This wonderful and readable book will truely turn your world inside out!!!
We must say that this is THE book to read if you want to take personally all the esoteric Sufi material presented by the spiritual genius Henry Corbin. We take this book with us on trips, we keep it by our bedside, we talk about these lucid ideas with our campanions on the path. Wake up and die before you die....
