Yes, the GX1850 model has a NMEA 2000 (N2K) port.

Q: Why won't this get position data from nmea2000 network? all other devices on the backbone get position info.

NMEA 2000 GPS data is possible with this radio. You must select the source of the GPS data from the MENU list in order for it to be recognized. This radio can accept both NMEA0183 and NMEA2000 data. The default is set to the older slow 0183 standard. Look in Section 18.1 of the user manual for details on "Order of Priority". Press and hold the MENU/SET button until GPS Setup is seen. Use the Up/Down arrows on the front panel to select NMEA2000 and press ENTER on the front panel. This will allow NMEA 2000 data for GPS.
